homestyler?

I'd love to hear from those of you who have used homestyler.com. We are trying to plan/design an office/sewing room in the room over our garage. We are using a lot of ikea stuff but their room planner is kind of limiting. Homestyler asked for my name and email address in order to open an account....maybe I'm getting a little paranoid but wonder why that would be necessary? Any experience you could share would be helpful.

I used it to help me design the interior of our new build. It helped with window size selection and being able to see it. Also, was helpful for furniture placement. You just have to find something close in size to what you plan to use. I registered and haven't had any problems with privacy or marketing emails etc.

I used it it crashed often and was difficult to translate into architectural drawings due to some "bugs" on some of the renderings but other than that it was fine. For just room layout it'll work fine.

I've used homestyler but never opened an account with them. Probably they want a name and email just so you can save your projects if you wish....otherwise you lose everything when you leave.

I opened the account so I could save projects. I've never had a problem with getting junk email etc from them.

I don't think it's unusual for them to ask you to set up an account. They're giving you use of something for free and they are asking for your email in return. Just like when you set up an account on GW or Houzz.

I am really trying to understand how homestyle works. Did any of you who have had success with it use a tutorial? Or any other help?? The youtube tutorial they sent me to was kind of useless. I've been working on it and just learning through trial and error, and it's a painstakingly slow process that way.

I'd sure love to learn how to make it work...I can see how useful it would be.

I tested almost all the services for floorplanning but have been satisfied only with Planoplan.com I like the fact that no need to spend lots of time learning how to use the software. I needed only 2 hours for creating my design project which normally takes 2-3 days.
