Yes, the counter top is my creation. First I painted the counter top with Ebony latex paint, the same paint used on the cabinets. I took card stock and painted it with acrylic paint in various colors.. I also cut up some of my old post card mailers, and purchased some glitter card stock in the scrap booking section of local craft store. I cut uneven squares about 1/2 inch out of the all the card stock. it took a long time to glue each piece to the counter. White glue such as Elmer's works fine for this. When finished placing the glued squares, I used two part epoxy resin to pour over the top. I did this project 5 or 6 years ago and it was quite messy! I had to keep walking around the counter with a piece of cardboard to catch the drips! If I were to do a project like this again, I would make an edge with painters tape to hold the poured epoxy resin. The finished counter top really looks like a glass mosaic! I have since sold that house and the new owner loves it!

I would go for the stainless and just do this on an accent table or island. My current house has copper counters. They are an interesting and unique hard surface and copper has anti bacterial properties.
