In nature when coconuts fall it's not always on level ground. Often there's old palm fronds and other debris which results in random orientation of the nuts. By the time a coconut has grown the nut is usually rotted away and the root mass keeps the plant stable. Of course, depends on how high above the ground it germinates. But I've seen them sprouted in all sorts of orientations and doing well. Haven't particularly followed any of them through to maturity though.

Thx tropicbreezent,I guess that no matter which way coconut sprouts,it would always sprout upwards and grow in any position.

Some of the leaning coconuts you see are ones that weren't solidly fixed and as they got larger the roots gave out to where the tree got back in balance. They then curve upright.
