Final Sconce Decisions

Well BergieBaby #2 has arrived, he is a month old so the MB reno is finally getting started at the end of the month. I have to make final decisions on bathroom lighting. I have flip flopped so much, I have confused myself and DH wont even entertain my questions. I am going for a contemporary cottagey vibe if that makes any sense. The board items have already been purchased. There will be a clean lined alcove tub catty corner to the vanity and the chandelier will be above the tub. Our other fixtures are chrome. Greige floor tile and white subway tile for the shower walls and bathtub surround.

Option 1 - over each mirror, this only comes in an antique nickel finish. Will it clash with the chandelier and fixtures, does it skew the room really rustic?

Option 2- sconce over each mirror, is it too traditional

Option 3 - one sconce on the side of each mirror and the middle. Worried if this looks funky since the vanity is part o a long wall that includes door to closet and shower. It is not centered in the room.

As a bonus heres a pic of Bergiebaby and his little brother, will seek help later for the sensible Mom couch DH talked me into buying when I was 9 months preggo.

    Congratulations on Bergiebaby #2!

    My opinion:

    #1 - definitely no

    #2 - better

#3 - DEFINITELY! Love it! Has a candle look to it to cover the cottage-y look but is obviously contemporary, and the mirror will reflect light a la the chandy. Perfect!

I like 3 as well. And congrats!

The Keller sconce is #3 and its from RH, but of course it's the most expensive option for both installation and light. Alright, I guess I have two weeks for RH to have a lighting sale. To muddy the waters more are any of these better options than the Keller.

#4 pretty similar to the Keller

    #5 PB Covington

#6 RH Sutton Double, would hang one horizontally over each mirror.

Those Bergieboys are just so stinking cute! I like #3 of your original choices, but 4 would work as well. And #6 could grow on me if you'd prefer something above the mirrors. Congrats on the new baby!

    I love #6

For the price of one RH Sutton double, you could get 2 of the similar Minka Lavery 4462-84

See it here at Lighting Direct .

I like #2, #3 and #6. Your kids are adorable!!!

Thanks gvultee at 120 watts per light that would be a great option, except it doesn't come in chrome :( . Not sure about introducing another finish since everything is chrome right now with the exception of the chandelier, vanity pulls and shelving brackets which are bronze. Thanks Linelle, I think #3 & #6 are in the lead.

    Such a cutie and I like #4

    Here's another option.

I love the sconce that Amy posted, it would look great with the Chandy.

What a wonderful double helping of adorableness! Congrats on Bergie Baby #2.

I kind of like #5 myself.

Might I ask where you got the vanity? It all looks great by the way!

Thanks Summer, it's the Logan Vanity from Restoration Hardware. It's really the same vanity as what they now call the Hutton, but the white oak that the Logan is made of has been discontinued.

Congratulations on your new baby! Big brother looks very pleased :-)

Unfortunatelly i dont think any of the sconces look appropriate with your chandelier. If it has already been purchased i believe i would keep looking.

I like the pink one, but couldn't tell you if it would work for you. Will the sconces be to the side of the mirrors? if they are above the mirrors, you wouldn't want one that points up I think

Violet I hope that's just lighting and it's isn't really pink, the shade is opaque. 1, 2 and 6 would all hang over the mirrors and the other sconces would hang on the side of the mirrors. I wouldn't hang any up.

awww, I'm disappointed. I like pink!

Speaking of which . . . . now the background to the posts looks pink to me on my other computer, not gray.

The vanity and faucet have strong, modern, masculine lines, so I would stick with this feeling around the vanity area. I'd avoid adding more girly bling and sparkle. I don't see any vintage or cottage elements, so I'd avoid those designs. I would limit the chrome to your plumbing fixtures. Chrome has a cool blue undertone, and your color palette is warm.

    Maybe the RH Powell sconce?

May thank you for the suggestion, I actually considered the Powell sconce, it's just too harsh in the bronze though. We used the Metris C line for the shower fixtures as well so I don't want one area of the bathroom to be all man. The shelving over the toilet matches the vanity, so my preference is definitely to keep it chrome and softer on the lighting above the vanity.

Oh! LOVE those shelves!!! I am all about reclaimed wood, love anything made with it (or in RH's case, the appearance of it!). How about something like this:

    Vienna Full Spectrum Manhattan sconce

I think the blingy chandelier stands a little apart, so I'd look for sconces to tie it in. So something modern but blingy. I can't find what I have in mind, perhaps this direction

I would have said your #1, but then saw the chandelier and switched to #2. But I'm not very blingy, so take that for what it's worth. (The kids are adorable and go with everything.)

Love all the lighting choices. I must know....where did you get the tile? Love that color!
