I've now purchased about a dozen gray paint samples for my basement, and I feel more undecided than ever! Here is what I'm looking for:

1) light gray

2) no blue or purple undertones.

3) contrast nicely with white trim

4) complements my Martha Steward green craft furniture

5) looks nice in artificial light (there is very little natural light)

6) works well for a large space

7) would serve as a neutral backdrop for a playroom that naturally has lots of pops of color from toys.

These paints have NOT worked: Ben Moore gray owl (at 50%), revere pewter, booth bay gray, balboa mist, settle mist, lacey pearl Martha Stewart Sharkey Gray and whetstone gray

The CLOSEST I've gotten is BM Classic Gray, Looks great in some places... but others looks purple. Doesn't really match with the craft furniture.

We have not finalized carpet, but thinking a dark gray.
