Need cabinet brand recommendations

I am planning a kitchen remodel and I am trying to choose cabinets that are well constructed but also budget friendly. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I have used Ikea cabinets in dozens of kitchens in the last 20 yrs never had a problem and now just waiting for the next client so I can use the new designs. I love mine and this is my second kitchen with all Ikea cabinets.

@mlkr1 - WOW ... sounds like you did great. We would love to see a picture of your cabinets!

I can also chime in about Ikea cabinets. We remodeled a (small) kitchen 5 years ago and they have held up beautifully. No complaints from us. That's with 2 teenage boys using them too.

For a (gutted) remodel we are currently working on, I went with Kraftmaid solid plywood kitchen cabinets.... purchased from their FACTORY WAREHOUSE OUTLET in Warren, Ohio. There is some info online about this place (very limited info... let me know if you want to email with me or something and I'll tell you what I know). We got about $15-18,000 worth of cabinets for $2,000. I CHOSE to buy mismatched finishes to get the cabinets I wanted and we are painting them ourselves. Lots of work, but huge savings. NOT for the faint-of-heart though.

Happy shopping to you! Good luck...

Hey, I got one more for you. It is a company called "Kountry Wood". They are Amish made cabinets. I found them at a store in Kalamazoo, MI called "The Kitchen Shop". They are a very decent quality cabinet at the best prices I could find for new cabinets (believe me, I shopped around like crazy). Kind of limited styles and options, but for a basic kitchen it'd be great. Not sure what options they have, truthfully. I was focused on "lowest possible price" then. Check them out!

I love my WoodMode cabinets. They are beautiful and look just as good as the day they were installed.

We chose Conestoga Wood Specialties RTA cabinets manufactured by a Mennonite company.

These are high end RTA cabinets made by a company which makes doors and other parts for several bands including Schuler.

Solid plywood boxes including 1/2" in back and 3/4" plywood shelves. They are assembled with glue and a finishing nailgun. Base cabinets have twin I-beam construction instead of plastic corners like many brands. Blumotion full extension drawer glides with softclose and Blum 6-way adjustable hinges.

Because they manufacture doors for lots of brands, they have a wider selection of door styles than any brand I have seen, including Schuler, Kraftmaid, Diamond and IKEA. You can get full overlay, partial overlay or inset.

We got top and bottom finish panels for upper cabinets along with light rail and galley rail. Pretty much any height, width or depth, and you can also get stacked cabinets.

Our pantries have five ROTs each with Blumotion full extension softclose glides rated for 100 lbs. You can also adjust the vertical spacing between ROTs without using tools.

Are there better preassembled cabinets out there? Probably so but you would pay double or more. And not everyone wants the work involved with RTA cabinets.

    Here are a few pics.
