That is fascinating. Does the potato planter get hung up easily? I noticed the boy watching it closely.

No. He was doing the job I asked him to do. He was responsible for insuring potato pieces were actually going in the ground. If not, he was to stop the progress. I don't like skips in my rows. It is just wasteful.

We all grinned a lot that day. We planted 500 pounds of potatoes in about three hours.

I forgot to mention, if any community garden in Central Oklahoma wants to plant potatoes, we would be happy to help. Also, we have a potato harvester.

We just planted 500 pounds of Kennebecs again. A farmer who lives 10 miles North of Guthrie is letting us use 1/2 acre. He even prepped the soil with his big tractor and 6' tiller. The soil there is GREAT. Those potatoes will love growing there.
1,000 pounds in the ground. Fingers crossed! Wish us luck.
