Raising the Ceiling

I am currently planning my living room remodel. And one of the things I am interested in is raising the ceiling to give the room a bigger look.

I am curious on how big of a process this is. I am trying to stay within the budget that my spouse and I agreed upon. So I am trying to figure out how much time and how big of a project that is. Does it involve messing with the roof at all? What about the attic space that is above my ceiling?

If this is that big of a project, I feel like I can better use thht money on other parts of the remodel that will be more cost effective.

    Hi there Jackyn,

In most cases your assumption is correct, it will is quite costly to perform the work you described, it's involved planning, engineering and a lot of work. for most homes it will not be a project of less than $20k in value for sure.

Also, you will have no attic space and the space will get hotter in the summer and colder in the winter.

you might as well invest in other parts of the house, what else did u have in mind?
