I always prefere the simpler design, but it is a personal preference and depends on the style of the house.

Two panel doors. Updated classic design

As a millwork salesman I prefer the two panel. The six panel is so overused. Are you looking at a true wood door or a Masonite type door? If it is Masonite I would definitely go with a smooth skin over a textured skin the finish product looks much better with a smooth skin.
