Getting rid of soil nematodes

Dear veggie lovers:
This is my
first season growing legumes (My zone, location & altitude are in my
username), and I'm concerned about trying to plant snap peas or snow
peas in a raised garden bed that is infected with soil nematodes.These nematodes have already been able to withstand 100 F western sun exposure all afternoon, as well as 0 F in winter, presumably for 1 full year.

If I knew of some cultivars that are resistant to/unaffected by soil nematodes, I could confidently plant these. I profess my
ignorance here, as to whether soil nematodes like munching on just the
roots of sugar snap peas or Chinese snow pea pods.

If you are not familiar with growing peas in a high desert environment,
perhaps you could steer me to someone that is in my neck of the woods.

talk with your local COUNTY extension office.. to find out if this is a real concern in your area ...

there are billions of nems and .. well .... some say a tablespoon .... other say a shovel full .... some good.. some bad... most neutral ...

the thought of eradicating such.. in a garden seems a bit much ...

you will have to be much more precise is determining exactly what needs to be done ...

and since this is you first try.. riddle me this.. why are you presuming you will have a problem ...

seeds for this crop ... are extremely cheap... just plant them.. and let see what happens ...

if you are looking for suggestions for named varieties of seed.... you might also want to try in the cornucopia forum ... which is where the veg freaks are ...

why do you think you have the bad nems in your soil???? more history please.. if you have it

Are these parasitic nematodes or beneficial nematodes?

The local office of your New Mexico State University Cooperative Extension Service may be able to help more than many of us here could.
