I think it should be fine for a while if you wrap it in damp newspaper and a plastic bag. Pot it into a terrestrial orchid mix till you get home.

I would just wrap the roots in some damp sphagnum moss and cover this with a bit of aluminium foil as it's more convenient to travel with plants bare rooted (not potted). You could mist spray the plant every couple of days to prevent dehydration. What ever you do, don't leave it for prolonged periods in a car parked in the sun especially in the boot, as it will cook in no time. Any orchid type potting mix (as long as it's free draining) would do to pot it in when you get it home.
