Planting Papilio in the ground

I live about 20 miles north of New Orleans in zone 9a. Our ground never freezes here and other amaryllis do fine in ground. Is there something special about the Papilio that says I can't plant in the ground here? I have a large pot my grandmother gave me. The plant has absolutely filled the pot completely and it bloomed last year. I would love to have this plant in the landscape. Any special care?

Also---tell me about the Mead Amaryllis. Scott Ogden has great pictures of this plant in ground pictured in his book Bulbs for the Southern Garden but I've never run across this particular amaryllis.
