Hi I will loose the trunks and branches of my in ground figs that are above ground. I have 12 fig trees in containers that come in for the winter and get warmed and growing in late February. They will have figs by April that may ripen as early as June. I am in Cincinnati's mill creak valley about 4 miles from the Ohio river. Southwest. Phil are you east or west or between

...also, not to rob it in, but... our figs are waking up here in os Angeles and most Biferas are showing Brebas already. It's so beautiful to witness the wakening of figs, every morning I spend a good one hour with all my fig trees as I drink my coffee.

Last week we had a wonderful gentle shower that lasted an entire day and warm climate to follow and today is cloudy again, it will rain one entire day starting late tonight and lasting the Sunday... We need all the good rain now.

I hide my portable Pakistan Mulberry and Citrus (Navel Oranges, Mayer Lemons and Kumquat) blooming trees under the balcony roof to protect the flowers and their precious pollen from being washed away.

and now we wait :)

It's good to see your name again. I am happy to be back here. The weather here in Northern Ohio has been very very cold. February has been a bummer,the coldest in Cleveland and it's suburbs history. Many of us here and the East coast and also some of the Southern States will loss some of their valuable fig trees as some did last winter but even worse than last year. Our good Italian friend in New York lost almost all of his fig trees last year. Some of us here have helped him regain some of his loss as we have for others. I have reduced the number of fig trees to only my favorites even though I received a couple new fig trees from fig friends.I also love dark figs.

Where is global warming. A joke. I hope we at least have an early spring.

The only green I see on my fig trees are the ones in the South window in the sun. Yes I said SUN. Yes, I do know that you are a very sharing and generous person. I will also share with you in the spring. I hope we can identify a few more of your fig trees even though many of them are difficult to Identify.I lost most of my fig information when my computor crashed last year.

Central Europe had another very mild winter. The lowest at my place (7b) was 19,4F
It alwasy seem to be an oppsite to the U.S.
Global warming seem to be over here at the moment..no real snow at all this winter.
But our summers lack of heat compared to my US friends.

I hope at least the most rees will survive my friends!

I live in Cleveland ohio, I have potted figs inside for the winter, they are all leafed out and ready to go outside. Any advice would be great!!! Is it too soon?

Start acclimating them for sunlight with morning and/or evenings exposures. Bring them inside over night if the temps drop below 50 F. I put my trees/plants on the north side of my house so they get the sun first 3 hours and last 2 hours. In 2 weeks they are ready. Fig trees are very sensitive to frost so don't take chance. I am assuming you have reasonably easy to carry.
