From your list, I have only grown Sungold. Since you will be growing one Sungold and one Black Cherry, I believe you will have enough cherry tomatoes from those two plants. Therefore, I would double up on the varieties that are left.

I would grow 2 Brandy Boys. Actually I am going to do just that.
Though, I have not grown it before but I have done a good study on it, have read tens of reviews on it and decided to grow it in place of Brandywine. This is the ONLY hybrid that I will grow this season.

Hmm, you're right, good thinking. They will grow lots of cherries so I should go with the bigger ones. Btw, I put Brandy Boy but I don't actually have it. I can't find it other than Burpee ($6 plus shipping, wtf??) I'm hoping to find it in stores. If not, then what would you choose?

Brandy Boy definitely. I don't care for great White at all, poor production and blah flavor IMO. P. Robeson is good but can be a difficult variety for production until late. How long is your growing season? Otherwise if you really, really like cherry tomatoes then I'd do 2 of the Sungold.

I'm in NJ, very short season. I wish I knew that about Robeson. I like white for novelty haha. Seems I must have the Brandy Boy or I just won't have good crops besides cherries.

Fun fact: I don't actually like tomatoes. I like tomato products though. I'm trying to get myself to like eating them raw and growing them to ripen on the vine for health.

Do you think you'd prefer sweeter toms? I'd say go sungold then.

Since you are trying to get a handle on good varieties sensible for you, I would suggest reworking the varieties to have good dual purpose tomatoes which double as fresh eating and good saucers. For sure keep Sungold and Brandy Boy, as it comes with high recommendations above, and PR I agree could be a maybe (lots of those that never make it).

Put a big heart shaped tomato in there, a nice ribbed one like we are talking about elsewhere, a good producer like mentioned elsewhere like Rutgers, then a nice delicious yellow like Kellogg's Breakfast or Big Rainbow (late, so if you have time only) which can be great. When it comes to a dark tomato Cherokee Purple and Black Krim have earned their reputations and really you must try one and I agree with digdirt on Black Krim as one fine tomato. I think you really need a broad sampler that covers what you already like cooked as well as different types.

Like the others have mentioned this has been discussed so much but will come down to your personal likes and dislikes.

I bought Indigo Rose for a dark tomato. The Rutgers look nice. Maybe I will grow that too.

If you like 'tomato products' you might be interested in canning or making sauce or salsa. I have heard good things about black plum for that purpose, and certainly you might want two of a plant you are planning to process fruit from. Other than that, I would grow two of the larger ones - maybe Brandy Boy? You'll have more than enough cherries otherwise. I like white tomatoes - they are a little 'milder' than others. You might like them.

Indigo Rose is not really representative of what most of us think of as a "dark" tomato a.k.a. black tomato since its color is basically from the same stuff in the plant's stem, which is different from the coloration in other dark tomatoes. For example, I feel it has the most terrible taste of any tomato on the planet.

I'm growing growing the black tomato varieties Margaret Curtain and Purple Calabash, and if there is room I'll stick in an extra Cherokee Purple. Without them, the tomato season wouldn't be nearly as enjoyable!

My local HD or Lowes (no longer sure which) has BrandyBoy in their Burpee seed rack. Even though Burpee had free shipping going on it was easier just to pop down to HD for the one pack I didn't order that I felt like trying. Of course while there I ended up buying 3 more packs of stuff I felt like trying.
