Not sure why but it does not seem easy. With the floor and shower ( no shower curtian. Glass doors) tile colors, blueish grays and earthtone brown/tans, amd the fact the room is narrow and smsmallonly one small area for a picture, the vanity is gray. I would love a dark graywith with trim. Im afraid it will make the room look smaller. White would look great but what color would i trim in. And if I went blu for ealls, would I go dark blue and again what color for trim. I've painted and mafe good choices before but this small room with blue tile really has me stumped. Are my pictures coming up for you to see?

Since gray vanity, why not tan on walls with gray trim?

I tried a tan in the closet to see and it really didnt look great with the blue tile. Then i tried light frenh gray and it blended into the tile with no contrast at all...sadly whit may be my only option

Have you considered tall beadboard (the type that is individual planks) on at least one long wall painted a coordinating white with a dark color you like above it. Other walls could have the traditional height. We did this in the small L shaped hall bath years ago and it worked out well and is more durable than drywall. Hung towels on the pegs.

I didn't notice you had a tile baseboard until after I posted that. That would present a problem with the thickness of beadboard. Maybe the same effect with moldings and paint without the beadboard.

Need to paint a whole wall to get true color...the Orange in there now will skew whatever you put on the walls until covered. One thought is to just prime over all that and start with a clean slate.

I agree with dclostboy: start by a layer of white primer to get rid of the distracting orange, in order to choose a color. You have to prime the wall anyway. For the wall color, maybe don't go the neutral route, b/c you already have a neutral floor and shower tile. What about a blue? It would go with the floor and also a brownish shower tile. And would keep the small area bright.

My floor tile is blue, i did not know this was a neutral color. Very blue with only a hint of gray. Tan in closet, where I tested it, looks off...really off with blue tile. The shower and its tile is so separated from walls because of angel and narrowness of bathroom..the wall color really wont effect it. When i used the light french gray there was no contrast it flowed right into floor making it appear as one whole. No contrast. ....blue flloor tile

All the pics im getting here are not blue floor tile with tans. And if gray it would surely have to be contast to the floor and be dark, same with blue, wouldnt it? Small an and not much room for decor to off set.

Hi! I agree that the current wall color is making your decision that much harder! How about a darker version of the French blue you tried? I think a mid to dark blue gray would look great! Then a slightly grayed white for trim. Look at Benjamin Moore 2131-50 Nimbus Gray & HC-165 Boothbay Gray. Olympic D56-3 Smoke Screen.

I like dclostboy's suggestion of a light tan or even a taupe. You will get sick of blue.

buy towels first. its so hard to find towels that arent a right now color. if you find a nice stripe that has your floor color you can work with another color in the pattern for your walls, something you'd never think of. if you didnt have glass i'd say get the shower curtain first.
