New kitchen. Started with telescoping vent.

Bought a GE Profile range when Sears store closed, to replace a
Jenn-Air downdraft. Overhead vent turned out to be
unfeasible so decided to combine with a Dacor telescoping vent. We had to enlarge the island, added a shelf and I wanted hickory cabinets. Combined recycled glass Ecocrush and eco-friendly Neolith for the counters. Came up with a work around to install the Neolith counter with an apron under-mount sink. Installers had never done that before. Took out pantry pull-outs; replaced with open shelving and LED lights. Put American clay on walls and used lime for back splash. Love the results.

great island improvement. lax the puple lights.. not so sure the antique plates work with that. but that is all in the eye of the beholder. The light fixture over the island is just adding to the "where to look" effect. i would take it down, straighten out the rail part, and only put back on three lights, considering the LED cans that are now there. and the back wall of light. try moving around all the blue and group it more spread across the whole back. Not sure this is what you wanted to hear. But i am just trying to be the outside looking in, if you will. Love the island, and that sink is to die for! i also love your accessories.. you have a great eclectic space here. ps you can by LED mr16 bulbs to replace the halogen you have in the track light. it will match better color wise, and be eco too!

Thanks for the comments! The purple light didn't show well in the pic. It's on a remote and can be any color but is usually turned off. Only 1 plate is an antique from great grandparents but the rest are Polish or local pottery. All the lights in the kitchen/dining are LED except over the island. We keep them because the IKEA bulbs make them shine pink. I like the extra lights so I can shine some on the wall art. (Can't afford any more electric work at this time, that was the most expensive part of the remodel, after cabinets.) You can't see it but those hat shaped bulbs match in shape the ones over the table and the sink. (When we built the house in 1990 we had overhead cabinets over the stove. Removed them years ago, thankfully, when we added the pantry to the house.) I keep moving around the pieces on the open shelves. I don't keep it minimal because it wouldn't match the rest of the house, ha, ha! That said I am thinking of taking out some of the pieces on the second shelf from the bottom. The remodel left me with lots of spare space in my pantry but I love having a place for my depression glass and Polish pottery.
I think the remodel fits with the rest of our house which is very unique. Reverse board and batt siding with weathered grey pine. Two story with red metal roof. Looks like a beach house in the desert with a mountain view. Didn't have a lot of money when we built it and have been remodeling ever since and doing my own landscaping. Lots of flowers and fruit trees and native grasses (not shown). Attached a picture I found from the fall.

The right side of the house not shown is open windows. I added pics from a living room redo a couple of years ago. Full of stuff, now, though.

no, I was saying use that light, take it down and un curve the track itself (it flexes) and put the track back out with only 3 lights rather than 5. not sure why you would want pink.. (actually light loss), and b/c you are eco friendly the LED version of this bulb MR16 will add less heat to the kitchen and save some energy, and also match in color to the other LED lighting. just a thought is all.

i love all your glass, i just think you should put some blue over the sink and kinda break it up a bit. as it kinda blends together right now. I dig your style.

The track light is a Home Depot fixture. Not flexible at all. I'll try to remove 2 lights and see how it looks.
I agree on the shelves. I've been moving the colors around and removing some stuff. Thanks.
