Before and After Kitchen

We gave our kitchen a quick makeover. New paint, stained the cabinets dark, back splash and new stainless steel appliances.

Yes, I have already ordered the new fixture :)

Great idea for replacing the brass fixture! I like the dark stain of the cabinets, too.

Not a fan of dark cabinets but they look great in your large space.

A lot more modern looking. I like it! How did you stain the cabinets? What was the breakdown of cost?

Melissa. We used General Finishes gel stain. I chose the color Java for the darker appearance. I bought the stain from Amazon.

We removed the cabinet doors and drawers and sanded them lightly and used a stain brush to apply the thin layer of the gel stain and allowed it to dry completely,m. We repeated this process couple of times. Once it dried completely I used polyurethane top coat for light shine.

    Great job!

How long did it take to do the cabinets? I'm thinking of painting my cabinets white with a glaze. I have less cabinets but I know this is a tedious process.

Ooooo...that color may be hot right now, but your door style makes the cabinets look dated.

Nice update. Stools look crowded. Maybe comfortable with two.

Wow, not usually a fan of dark but love the re-do.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Appreciate it!

Melissa, it took us couple of weeks, working in the evenings and weekends and agree it's a tedious process but worth it :)
