Hi, what is it you are not having much luck with? Is it the soil type? The plant types? Bugs? Drought? I too am working up better gardens myself. I do have plants but the soil is lacking even though I live in the country on an old farmstead. This year I am working on composting in rows chopped up scraps of fruit, veg, coffee grounds, egg shells and shredded paper. I have them in a large plastic tub inside a plastic bag. When the bag is full I have been freezing them to store for warmer weather when I can start turning over the garden beds. I tried composting piles without much success and it's slow. While working at a farmers market I asked one grower with a very productive small garden what her secret was. Compost. And she just made rows between her plants a good 6" deep and buried chopped up stuff to compost and gradually filled in rows over the summer throughout her garden. By the fall she would mix it all up in the beds and then do the same the following year.

Is it germination you are having problems with? Choice of seeds? What are other people successfully growing in your area? Please advise so we can be of more help.
