Check Canadian websites for customer reviews. The company has a variety of grades in the maple, from the very clean through to rustic. It was not possible to find any warranty term in years on any of the products, at least on the website. There is only a limited warranty. High-quality companies are willing to stand behind their products, and 20-yr. warranties on hardwood floors are not uncommon from the best suppliers.

Trisha D, I don't have any more to offer on Wickham. I looked quite a bit, but didn't come up with anything. I've put off my decision for a little bit. I'm also looking at Stoehr Floors in Maple which I might be leaning towards. Good luck with your search! Let me know what you end up with.

We had over 1,300 sq. ft. of Wickham Gunstock 4-1/4" installed. The quality is very good, and there was very little waste. The floor looks beautiful. The only slight negative is that there were not many long boards in each box. The majority seem to be around 28" long. Overall, we are very pleased with our hardwood floors.

We've had Wickham Maple Graphite installed on our main and upper floors and have been very happy with it. Granted maple is a softer wood than oak so you may get some dings but the floor is beautiful. The finish has withstood over 5 years of cleaning and still looks glossy. Very happy with this floor.

I just recently had 1,100 SF of Wickham Ash Hardwood in 4 1/4 Charcoal Satin Finish. Absolutely fabulous, 35 year warranty, excellent quality, less than 5% waste.

Personnally, I would avoid Wickham. We don't have a good experience with them + their customer service is useless. Even the store that sold it to us was telling that it's not a top quality hardwood. Took delivery of a brand new house with 4 1/4'' Maple. Multiple planks are missing varnish + a lot of them have started to cleave/split apart after a few months (less than a year). You can clearly see from the pictures how a brand new Wickham hardwood floor looks like.

I recently had installed over 1100 sq feet or Wickham ash hardwood with no issues whatsoever. I would suggest checking humidity levels in your home as this may be an issue?

I’m wondering if anyone has any further comments on Wickham hardwood. I’m looking at doing upper level of home using 2.25 inch natural maple.

Just thought I'd add experience. We installed 4 1/4" natural grade maple in the colour Haze, throughout our 2 storey 4 bedroom house. It is gorgeous. We had almost no waste. Had a good variation of piece lengths. The natural grade is really beautiful and I will always choose it over select.

We ended up installing 700 sq ft of can plus (50% natural and 50% select mix) Wickham maple in natural finish (no stain). Beautiful product and virtually no waste.

Here’s where we had to tie it in to an existing floor that was 20 years old!

Elena Nuta, would you mind posting more pics of your floor. We are considering 4 1/4 Maple Haze and would love to see a few more perspective pics and to hear if you are still satisfied with your purchase ?

here's a few more photos. Moved in a few weeks ago and the place is still kind of a disaster. What grade are you looking to get? The natural grade is what gives it the beauty, in my opinion. Also the color is quite cool, in my opinion, I think the first photo shows it best, or maybe it just varies based on the lighting.

We have noticed splitting on 3 boards, see the third photo. It's quite minimal and if they don't multiply or widen significantly, I won't worry about it. They are all downstairs so I wonder if it's to do with the humidity in the basement. Although we do have a dehumidifier down there so it shouldn't be an issue. Anyways just wanted to mention this, we are still happy with the floor, it is stunning.

Thank you Elena for taking the time to share more pics and your perspective. Do you happen to live in a humid climate? We live up North so humidity isn’t a constant issue. The first picture you should shows a lot of variation than the third pic looks which looks more consistent. Would you say overall the pattern is varied or consistent?

I'm near Toronto, humidity shouldn't be an issue because the house is air conditioned. We haven't gone through a winter yet so who knows if anything will happen when the by humidity drops...

The variation in the wood is about the same everywhere, and I would say it's a lot of variation. It doesn't show great in photos depending on the lighting. The is no pattern though, no board is the same as another.

Be aware that there are two colours, the heartwood (I think) is a warmer richer brown (but this is not the predominant colour), but the rest of the wood also varies in darkness of the color in boards that have burling other natural features.

It gives a summary of all the grades and what to expect for variations average board lengths etc. The natural grade typically has a lot of variation and shorter board lengths. The price to go up a grade to can plus wasn’t that much if you want longer board lengths, less variation and markings.
Our floor has been in for 6 mos now in a super dry climate with no shrinkage or splitting. We did let it sit for a long time to acclimatize to the house.

So far, I have had nothing but problems with Wickham. Wanted a brown floor. Looked around and ended up getting Wickham, Solid Maple, in walnut color. It isn't anything like what was expected and they resent it twice. So now I am trying to figure out what to do with that ugly floor. I don't want to install it. On the plus side it looks like nice quality flooring.

The grey boards I got. They were nice enough to resend a second batch, but it's exactly the same ad the first. So I am at a loss for what to do next.

Wickham uses the same forest, the same milling process, the same grading requirements, and even the same machinery as it's chief competitor, considered the most prestigious brand in Canada.

Clearly there is a moisture issue shown in pictures above. Note the cupping evident in the wavy floor.

Similarly, a Hardwood Manufacturer is not responsible for the environment, where his product is later placed.

If you are considering a hardwood floor, your first priority should be to select a proven experienced flooring retailer. He/She will confirm that your home meets the requirements, then guide you through the process.

How does everyone clean their Wickham floors? I just had Ash Nevada floors installed yesterday. They are beautiful but definitely have some residue on them from the install which is showing footprints.

Beautiful! I use a steam mop and it works great!

I use a damp microfibre cloth, just warm water and dry with a microfibre cloth (on my hands and knees). I found if I don’t dry then there can be streaks. I have also used a damp microfibre mop (like a bona mop) and then dry with a second mop. I rinse the wet cloth/mop out frequently. I read that steam mopping is not suitable for any hardwood floors as eventually the heat will break down the finish and damage in between the boards.

Does anyone have wickham domestic red oak or maple in gunstock? I would love to see a picture of it installed.

Ya I heard steam is a big no for hardwood floors

I’ve steamed for over 8 years and have had no issues. It could be the technique or the mop. I don’t leave the mop steaming in an area but rather move swiftly. The floors dry pretty quickly soon after so there’s no water sitting on the boards.

Hi - I have wickham ash in charcoal installed throughout my main floor and upstairs and I use a Rubbermaid reveal spray mop with a refillable container and I use Bona which is amazing. Love my hardwood floors.

@rosalyncatherine would I be able to message you about your Canadian Plus maple flooring? I just had the same thing delivered to my house and I'm a bit stressed about the number of dark pieces. I love the way yours looks and I'm wondering if you have any more photos or if you did anything to disperse the colouration as the wood was laid out. I have until Monday to make any last minute decisions and then they will go in.

Mineral streaking is typical for the hard Maple species. If you prefer less variation, opt for a higher grade, such as Select and Better.
