His and hers sinks

Why is this design of 2 bowl vanity in a master bathroom so prevalent? I am remodeling our master bath and never have had the need for 2 sinks for my husband and me. If I stick with a valanced granite top single bowl vanity will this make my new bathroom less valuable if we need to sell house in the future?

Double sinks in the master bath are much preferred over single sinks, because many couples prepare for the day or evening at the same time. One way you might address this issue without losing resale value would be to go with a trough sink. Just be sure to add two faucets. See Houzz photos under "trough sink" to see the "way cool" look.

Usually, people want two sinks in the master. We have two and I like it that way. At one point, one of the sink had a problem and we both had to use the same sink. It's inconvenient when we both need to get ready at the same time. I am guessing you don't have the same schedule as your husband so you can get ready at different times. If you have the possibility to have two sinks, I would go with two, especially if you are planning to sell this house.

If you are worried about I resale get two unless that will cause you to have no counter space. Personally I don't care about 2 sinks but if you watch those house hunting they are a must for many.

Thank you! I like the idea of a trough or even wider sink with 2 faucets!

I was going to suggest the one sink with two faucets. They are usually for a more modern look

i did a double sized vanity with just one sink, (not centered) and a nice expanse of open counter top. if the next people want 2 basins they can get a new counter top but dont need a new vanity. i prefer to do my hair/make up not over a basin.

Two sinks are important to many people, even us retired folks. We took points off when house hunting for baths without them, and would have offered less knowing renovation would be needed. Trough sinks might look cool to some but remind me of the sinks in the bathroom at our football stadium. Lol.
