Big Boo-Boo! On Red Robins

I started some Red Robins a while back, or I thought I did........

What I have growing under lights are defiantly not Red Robins! They are 3' tall and blooming now.... but at least they are healthy!

I have my saved seeds in baggies and I guess I picked up the wrong bag. I was having trouble seeing that day, my contacts were bothering me. They could be Brandywine, black cherry, Brandy Boy, or many other things!

Oh well, I guess I'll figure out what I have if they set fruit! The pots are too small, 3 gallon and I'm running out of room for my lights. I'm planning a trip to Lowes after while to get some stuff to raise my lights up.

wertach, do you mean 3 inches ?

Planting the wrong package or labeling it wrong, . can happen to all of us. Last year i thought I was growing Kumato but it turned out to be yellow grape.

Also seeds can get mixed . right now I have potato leaf seedling in Rosella Crimson pot. Either I messed it or the seed seller did. It it were RL, I wouldn't know it.

Another taught: If 3" tall is flowering, it is very likely that is an EARLY variety. Are you growing any early variety ?

Seysonn, Rosella Crimson has regular rugose leaves which at seedling stage can look like a potato leaf if you haven't grown dwarfs before. Most dwarfs have the rugose leaves. So hopefully your seedling really is Rosella Crimson.

I didn't save any seeds last year that would be an early variety, so I don't think they would be an early one. Unless I used seeds from a few years ago, I had some black cherry and some other cherry seeds.
Brandywine and Brandy boy are out because they have regular leaves.
I think they are blooming because I put them in the 3 gallon pots about mid December and it is a very warm room. They are probably root bound and stress will force blooms, or so I've heard.
They are growing like an indeterminate, lots of branches.

Last year I grew two Red Robins. One was normal but one plant grew tiny round pleated tomatoes. Had to be a wrong seed. The pleated ones were spitters. Insult to injury !

Yeah. Rosella has RL. It is so obvious. They already have 4 true leaves. The other one with PL also has about 4 true leave and twice as tall. I just separated them. I labeled the other one " ?1 SURPRISE !!??" . It is very vigorous. That is why I am keeping it.

Update!

I gave up on them and trimmed them all back so that I could keep them alive, except two plants that I gave to our secretary at the shop. She put them in a very sunny window in her office. I don't have a sunny window at home so all of my light has to be artificial.

They have ripening tomatoes on them now and I am pretty sure that they are black cherry plants because of the color and size of the fruit. They are very tall and spindly but have fruit! She will have fresh toms before anyone! :)

I planted the ones that I trimmed back in an old bed over a week ago and they are growing fast! They had a lot of roots and they will probably be my first toms too. I'm not too crazy about the taste of black cherry, but since they are early I'm sure they will be better than store bought, I can accept that!
