Love the countertop & backsplash colors, nicely set off by the flooring! The owner must be thrilled! The way the backsplash goes to the ceiling is so effective, and extending the cabinets into the dining space the way you did was brilliant!

Arent white interiors for a kitchen hard to maintain ??

I don't think there is such a thing called "maintenance free living" :) There is a maintenance factor to everything - white, black ( which is worse than white), and otherwise. Solid wood cabinetry has to be oiled and even stainless steel stains.

mehtabhadra All cabinets need to be wiped down to maintain their appearance. muskokatana the taller cabinets are generally much more expensive, one way to save money is to use crown moulding to cover any "gaps". We saved over $1500 using 36" upper cabinets vs 39" ones, in our kitchen....

I especially love the backsplash. It really offsets the white in the kitchen without being too busy. Can you tell me the brand and where to find? Could you also post a close up of the countertop and backsplash? It is a very polished kitchen. Great use of extending the countertops to provide a more open feeling and more storage. Beautiful.

As to the question about taking cabinets to the ceiling--it's a personal decision as to whether the money is worth it for the homeowner. Some people don't mind having a gap. Using crown modeling, to the extent possible, is a good way to fix the issue if the gap is smaller. For me, the money was worth it. I have very high ceilings. I used 42" ceilings and stacked 18" glass front cabinets on top of them so that the cabinets would reach the ceiling (with a small amount of crown added too). I can't wait to see mine installed. For now, they are sitting in boxes in my family room.

I have a question my house is was built in 1968 and it has a lot of foundation issues. My neighbors trees are also very close to my house just a foot away. These trees are also causing further damage to the foundation. I've done a lot of cosmetic changes, but the foundation is big. I'm now wondering if I should invest into the foundation because legally I can't do anything to remove my neighbors trees. I called the county coding department and they say I can only trim back the trees. I am not sure if it will be worth while to invest more money into this house
