I just wanted to upload this pic of my VFT and pitcher plants. One of the many questions about these CPs is how they might handle the cold months in an outdoor situation. I am in North Texas and for the last 2 weeks, we had temperatures dip into the 20s. Combined with precipitation, that soon turned into a few days of snow or ice. We ranged up to low 40s and the snow melted but some nights still dip back down to 30s.

I should have taken pictures of them having snow in the container but I didn't think to do it then. But these are pictures of them several days after these cold conditions and they seem to have come through just fine. I'll hope for a good growing season as spring comes in.

The pot is a 16" plastic pot. The white stuff is perlite, not snow. The pitcher plants are about 3-4" tall and the VFTs have maybe 1/2" or 1" leaves.

I bought these last spring from Lowe's, the kit that has some rhizomes to be planted, not the ones that were already growing as a single plant. I am encouraged by these results and would now feel better about preparing a more permanent in-ground location for them to live/thrive in, instead of being in pots.
