Love it. I've been doing my best with painted cabinets since I bought my house 25 years ago. I wish I had the funding to do something similar, but a little brighter.

Not a fan...the cabinets look dated...sorry....a clean shaker would have been better, with lighter backsplash and flooring...very dark, looks smaller, but Its great that the homeowner is happy....that is what matters.just think they could have used more guidance.

I love it all, except for the small tiles around the windows, that just makes it look too busy. It would have been better with just a bit of paint, I think.

I am surprised to see so many negative comments. I would prefer the before kitchen for a seasonal cottage and the after kitchen for my main house. I like the farm sink with the green cabinet very much. Love the design of that green cabinet also.

I love the contrasting color under the sink! I think it really adds something nice.

The new kitchen is a bad mix of materials.

It is a beautifully dramatic change! If the client is happy, that is all that matters. On a personal note, it is too busy for me, but still a huge improvement from what was there.

I'm loving the open door to the outside. I would love to be able to work in the kitchen with a nice breeze blowing thru.

Yup, if the homeowner's happy, it's all good. I rather like the before kitchen ... maybe the cabinet "faces" (clearly I'm not a designer-type!) could be spiffed up just a bit. But overall thot the kitchen was quite cute in its original state.

Wow -- I thought the before wasn't bad and then I saw the "after" photo and was amazed. I'd love to work in the after kitchen....the colors, the arrangement, and the charm are all great.

The craftmanship looks good and the way the cabinets wrap by the windows is a cool feature. That being said, the rest of it isn't to my taste at all. If I had a house at the beach I would be going for light airy and casual....not heavy, busy and ornate. But I imagine this is exactly what the client wanted and you fullfilled their wish. It really doesn't matter that it doesn't appeal to many people here unless they are planning to sell in the near future. If not then they are the only ones who need to enjoy it. ;)

I love how the updating creates a more functional and attractive kitchen. I like the cabinetry and the new layout. I'm not crazy about the tile around the window.

The original cabinets look like the ones my dad built in our house that he built in 1954. Plywood finished doors. It was all he could afford at the time. So the homeowner definitely needed something new. I like that they didn't put the microwave under the counter like the designers like to do these days.

The range placement closer to the sink with counter space on either side of it makes it more convenient as well.

I like the backsplash and how it coordinates with the floor. But the tile around the window isn't to my liking. I hope the owner likes it. That's all that matters.

Personally I like it. It's not my taste but it looks great. Just because something doesn't fit 'this seasons' design doesn't mean it's out dated or ugly. I'm starting to see many once considered out dated styles come back in. So basically I don't care what the "pros" say because styles seem to change so often. Congrats to the homeowners on their new kitchen!

I also love the mix of cabinet color. I've seen contrasting islands and different finishes for upper and lower, but never the sink cabinet. That is wonderful. Also love the angled upper cabinets. It gives it a nice, additional detail.

I love it! It's definitely a particular taste that not everyone will like but pleasing everyone is so basic and boring, congrats on creating a very unique and special kitchen. Also I love the weird shape of the kitchen, it's a unique layout that works well with the fun new reno!

Totally get why she wanted to update her sweet, but dated kitchen. Sure hope the rest of the house got an update to match the Tuscany/Country looks she got in this kitchen remodel. While it's definitely not my taste, I can see it's beautifully done. I'd be interested to know what year the house was originally built, the architectural style of it, and how she incorporated this very specific design look into the whole house.

Btw, I want to know where the fridge went too! :)

Hardly anyone has commented on how much better the function of this kitchen is now. Very pretty kitchen, with lots of options for changing décor styles. Well done!

As most of you pros know, we have all different kinds of clients. This client in particular had a lot of different requests with an eccentric taste. Our kitchen designer did her best to fulfilled her needs. :)

The wall around the kitchen and the base cabinet under the sink are an eyesore in an otherwise nice kitchen - my 2-cents !!!

The original was cute. The new cabinets are too fussy and detailed. The change in color to a dark green for sink is too much in such a tiny space. The detail in the sink cabinets and on the wall just too much. Sometimes "less is more" and classy.

Not for everyone obvioulsy, as we all have our own ideas of a dream kitchen. I think it's important to find the designer that appeals to your sense of style and look at their portfolio before selecting, as you are depending on them for their expertise and suggestions. I'm sure the homeowners are very happy, but I feel it is a bit dark for me - living with snow from November to March, I'm in need of a bright kitchen and one that feels a bit more harmonious.

The view into the garden is gorgeous, I think it's the tile around the window that really throwing off most of us. Cabinet folks, it looks like a quality remodel.

Oh Yeah Baby! I yelled as I pumped my fist (and hubby wanted to know "what's up now?"!) OMG, I love this new kitchen. Lucky, lucky owner! Everything is just perfect. I like a lot to look at...this kitchen is saying "Look at Me!" "Look at everything I have!" Those cabinets are just to die for. The countertop...I want that! Under cabinet lighting just gives it such pizazz! Absolutely one of my favorite Houzz Kitchens ever!!

Mr /Ms Cabinet Care You are to be commended for the beautiful cabinets. I wish your client had been more open to a lighter, more simple look, that would have compliment the location of the cottage. No one is criticizing the workmanship, which is obviously high quality.

The window looks "busy" because it's partially open. It's actually a normal window.
I think this kitchen has depth and warmth now.

I agree that the role of the designer is to guide the home owner toward a realistic sense of the outcome. She might have a wish list of a dozen elements but if they don't work together, they don't work, period. This kitchen is random in every way. The cabinets are beautiful, and the cabinet maker did that part well. But the design as a whole lacks cohesion.

Too many negative observations not kind to owner and builder. From my part a suggestion that will add to window look and create a complete and interesting focal point: run the window tile to counter (behind faucet wall). This would be a small cosmetic touch up. Think of doing this, good job overall, be happy and enjoy .

What a controversial transformation!
I looked at your other project albums. Your portfolio certainly includes some clean line designs that can appeal to bigger audience. This eclectic kitchen is a great example of the variation in sense of styles among home owners and your ability and craftsmanship to tailor to their needs.

Love the cabinetry , but I'm not understanding the counter color , Backsplash or the tile around the window for a beach home . But then again , it's not my taste but theirs . Maybe this is their perrmanent home and they are tired of the coastal bright color look . The tile around the window does not really fit the decor of the rest of the look in the kitchen They must have had a plan this color decor for the rest of the home . If they love it , that is what really is the most important .
