Can we get a photo?

About 5 years ago I bought an Emerald and got the most colorful flowers I'd seen at the time from Emerald; the flowers didn't last but a few days and after that she turned into the incredible shrinking bulb, I don't even think I still have it. I never bought another as I found it impossible to grow but maybe next season it's time to try again!

This picture was taken in 2010 and that's the last I ever saw of her!

If some clone will not grow, although the bulbs are healthy and other Hippeastrums at the same location are doing well, then I am inclined to presume a particular demand for elevated substrate temperature. I still cannot get over it, that I lost mine precious "Pink Floyd" when I was just at the verge to figure this out *sigh*

Was hoping Jody would post a photo of her lovely blooms....

This is Giraffer and Emerald. Emerald had a very vibrant red pictoee besides the brush strokes this year. I haven't downloaded all my pics yet so I will look for more when I do.

Just realized that my Emerald doesn't look like Donna's. Ok Kristi, time for more sleuthing :)

Donna, what do you think about the differences in the two Giraffe's?

Here was my H. Emerald the first year it bloomed. It was also very pale it got more color in subsequent years. I probably felt like Jody did...but it's earned its keep.

Jody, did you mean the differences between the Emeralds? I think yours has a unique shape and I like it. Some of them are pale and some aren't depending on the conditions different years but it's the shape of yours that intrigues me. It sort of looks like a cross of Emerald and Yume Mitai!! If it were a mislabel I won't have a clue as to what it is so I guess it's just a better shaped, paler version of Emerald!

Very pretty Exotic Star by the way, one of my favorites!!

Kristi, I can't open your link, I get that popping yellow star. I'll try it on the other computer and see if I can open it, I have different browsers on each computer.

Donna, this year, mislabels seem to be the norm for me. Interesting the way we seem to find these things out. Another reason to post pictures :)

Well, I was just able to open Kristi's photo on my other computer (different browser) and her's looks much more like yours so I think you've got the right variety anyway...just more shapely!

Well, I went out to emaryllis and their photo of Emerald looks more like yours and the description says it only stays open three days!! So now I'm really confused!!!

Jody, if I may add my 2 cents, I think that your 'Emerald' is 'Lime Flair'. The photo of the flower next to 'Giraffe' is not 'Emerald'. Emaryllis even makes a comment on how similar the color and markings are between the two.

It is "Emerald" because the Butterfly wings are at least as broad as the segments below. Other than that, the bloom of "Lime Flair" is not spotted, there is no "dots" on them.

I"ll just post a picture of Lime Flair for comparisons...

Hans-Werner, I don't think there are any "dots" in the bloom. I enlarged it and changed the contrast.

Jim, same plant but not the same flower scape. This was a second scape from the same bulb. The flower didn't open with the petals curved, that happened after a day or two.

Here are my Lime Flair and Emerald for comparison. My Lime Flair is much larger and more rigid compared to Emerald which is smaller and seems softer in apperance.

I've have had very pale blooms from H. Emerald one year and spectacular blooms the next year. Conditions seem to impact this bloom's color and markings more some than others.

Here is an Emerald just like yours that I found on EBay. It may be that the newer Emeralds have this different shape, which I like even it if is different than the older versionl

Now these Emeralds are all different pictures from obviously different plants but the second one is a dead ringer for yours!
