What kind of damage happens to the painted glazed finish you have now?

Thanks for chipping info. If I were you, I would talk to the original painters about what is going on. New paint could be even more vulnerable to chipping. It's possible that a simple yearly maintenance touch up by the original pros with the original paint color and glaze would work. However, that won't solve the color and value problem you mentioned. For a custom kitchen like this, I'd recommend hiring a professional color consultant to help get you the look you want. Check references first, of course. Another option for a slight color new look is to change the light bulbs to a different color temperature, maybe warm white LEDs. Or change the fixtures. Try bringing home four different color temperature bulbs to try out.

I think your cabinets are very attractive, but take this opportunity to remove the Tuscan-looking brackets along the ceiling, which are odd and distracting.
