My seed pod broke off ... Help

My seed pod that had been growing/maturing for the last 7 months just broke off. It still has a long stem on it. Is there anything I can do to allow it to continue to full maturity? It has not begun to change color yet as it is still green. I'm hoping there is something that can be done as I don't think it has much longer to go. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

Hi .. I'm sorry that your seed pod broke off the tree. What a sad thing to find.. :-( It usually takes about 9 months for one to fully mature and ripen. Pods do change coloration on most trees when the pods mature but some start out as dark.. So when you say yours is still green after 7 months it sounds like it hasn't fully matured to allow those seeds to be viable. You can always try and place your pod in the sun and see if it does split on its own.. The real question will be if the seeds are viable to germinate. All you can do is try... I have a feeling they will not be mature enough.

We do offer seeds on this forum, so if this was your first pod and you are looking for seeds.. Keep an eye out for some of us to offer this summer.

Hi cwgrinnell I have last fall's seeds don't know if they are any good but you are welcome to all you need I have pink and cookstown sunset. I don't do plumeria seeds so I don't know if they are to old

Hey CW,
I am not an avid seed collector or grower, but I did see on one of the plumeria grps on FB, that a Thai grower/seller collected un-opened pods and hung them to dry. I was always told if the pod did not open, chances are they are not viable seeds. Based on the Thai sellers reputation and his massive amount seedlings hes grown from his seeds I might take a try @ drying the pod and seeing. Good luck

Thank you everyone for the help tips/hints/suggestions. We've have a couple potted Plumeria and this was the first seed pod we have ever gotten. We were quiet shocked being that our Plumeria are so young but pleased to learn we may have many new ones with our seed pod. So imagine our disappointed when it broke off. Maybe we'll get lucky and the pod will continue to mature but based on all your comments it doesn't sound promising. I will definitely keep checking back for available seed pods. THANK YOU!

WOW! Seeing all of those seedpods is crazy. How would you know what the Mother plant was with all of them together. I wonder why he cuts them off? Barb
