Help! We remodeled our kitchen without the help of a professional design person. So here we are ready to tile, ok we're in the middle of tiling the backsplash, and we're not sure how to end this tile - to the wall, the counter, the cabinets? And no, the cabinets and the countertop don't end in the same spot.

Also what are you're thoughts on the mosaic border? We have a small galley kitchen and the countertops have quite a bit of movement.

I would like to echo to skip the mosaic as others have said . And I was wondering if maybe you couldn't do a dry run of both ways, by cutting the tiles like you would end it at the counter & use dap to stick them to the wall(that stuff is quite strong)-then take your plastic off your countertop so you can look at it for a day or two. And then do it again with it going all the way to the end. And then do it all the way to the end and down the wall. Then doing which one you like the best. It's a bit extra work & you may waste a few tiles but I think (since I tend to be so visual) it will pay off in helping you decide

I prefer ending at the cabinet. Personal preference, though. But you'll run into problems with the light switch if you continue the tile, because you can't tile halfway through the switch.

Re: the mosaic- is it the same depth as the other tile? And do you want a stripe across the room? Is the mosaic about the same color as the counter? If it's the only dark brown thing in the room, I think it would look weird.

I would skip the accent tile and lean toward tiling to the doorways and down to the floor.

I second Intown123 about tiling all the way down. You can still use the an accent but get a lighter version, colourway similar to the countertop.

One more thing, you still can move the light switch up so you can avoid it. Have a friend you knows how or do it yourself.

We recently had ours done by a pro (which I could of done myself!), he ended ours at the cabinet. He said that is how most tile people do it. It does look very nice. They ended it with a tile edging. I agree, I would skip the mosaic. You're doing Great work!

The tile should go to the end of the counter top. I would also skip the mosaic.

Dump the mosaic, tile up to under the cabinets and out to the molding on the door, but where IS this door molding? :)
