Your cabinets have a high quality look and come off as a neutral wood tone. Leave them as is. There are many people who don't like white kitchens. I would leave changing the kitchen drastically to the new owner. The keys to selling your home quickly are to declutter (delete all personal photos, religious symbols and sporting team affiliations - college and pro), deep clean and delete any pet odors. Add fresh flowers. New towels in the bathrooms. When you know you are having a showing, leave lights on in every room.

Those are beautiful cabinets. And a beautiful floor. Neither is objectionable enough to worry about in my nonprofessional opinion. i might suggest just putting a wide runner on the floor to break up the large expanses of wood. I don't know what your style is but maybe an oriental or something more modern in your colors. What do you think about removing the wood front from the fridge to help break up the cabinets? Just a thought.

uncover the refrigerator. get a nice stainlessrefrigerator to match the other appliance. add a vibrant area rug/ runner and pop of color on the counter, and on display in the hutch.

Dont change it. IMO, it's not a deal breaker type of thing, since they are in great condition, and even if you change it, how do you know your changes will be liked? Only if they were in poor condition, would I change them.

Your kitchen is beautiful, and the wood on the refrigerator is very in style. Add some bright floor runners. Too many buyers rip out and do what they want anyway. A friend of mine put new flooring in her entire house ( realtor recommended) the buyers put most of it on the curb on trash day. They didn't like the color or choice of hardwood.

I wouldn't recommend it unless your cabinets are in bad shape. They appear very nice!

White will go out of style just like honey oak cabinets have. Your cabinets aren't out of style because they're a little different.

Your kitchen looks just fine, don't touch the cabinets. Simply add a colorful runner, or 2, to break up all the wood. De clutter your kitchen almost totally and simply put out fresh flowers for each showing. On the last house we sold I swiped the counters with some Spic'Span prior to each showing. The smell is great and gives a psychological impression of cleanliness.
Also, I always set out a candy dish of seasonal candy (candy corn in the Fall for example), and got so many positive comments. The buyer said she had looked at 21 houses prior to ours and our house was the first one that gave her that "warm fuzzy" feeling.

Paint the floor dark brown with oil base paint. (Sand, prime, paint.)

I loved painted cabinets. White to match what you have already and to create a cohesive space. Remove all decorator items. Add a runner on the floor with yellows, golds, bright grass green, grays, whites...in a bold modern floral to pull the floor and cabinets together. Live with the white fridge door for a while to see if it isn't too much and if it is remove and add a stainless fridge to match other appliances. Instant update. Not all painted cabs look terrible. I used chalk paint and clear wax and then polished nickel hardware on my bathroom cabs and they are beautiful so much so that when a friend saw them she hired me to do hers.

While I love white cabinets, I absolutely would not touch yours or the fridge. You have plenty of contrast with the light countertops and other white cabinets. I agree that it's the floor that may be throwing you off. It's probably not practical to refinish them for resale so I would just put down some tasteful runners to break it up. Looks like your paint color is blue. Find some runners that pull out that color. Declutter everything off counters except a couple of your pretty blue dishes for a pop of color. Just my opinion...but it's free! Good luck with your sale.

I would leave your cabinets alone! They are lovely. I agree with you that there is too much "wood tone" and not enough "pop" BUT you can fix that with just throwing down a rug with some color. Buyers will love your kitchen, if they don't then let THEM change it in the future, for selling purposes, I'd leave it as is, save for adding pops of color with decorations.

No offense, but de-clutter your kitchen if you want to make it more presentable. If you were investing in staying my advice would be different and match some of the sentiments above; however, that is not the case. Consider some inexpensive carpet runners to soften the 'all wood' look and use some bowls or vases with fruit and flowers to draw the attention away from the floor. "less is more" is usually true when presenting a house.

I love the cabinets! If you have to choose between changing the floor or the cabinets you should definitely choose the floors. This kitchen would be even more beautiful with a different floor color. I do agree with many other comments though, since you are planning on selling, do a quick fix by adding a runner or something, and let the future homeowner handle the rest.

Personally I'd leave it alone, I don't think there is enough of a problem to warrant you spending time and money on it.

DON'T PAINT THEM!!!! They are beautiful! Painted cabinets look cheap unless done professionally and even then sometimes! It would look like you were trying to cover up outdated ugly cabinets which your's are not! If you did anything, maybe consider new hardware...maybe...I think it's a lovely room!

Wow, a painted floor would turn me off completely, don't even think about that. I agree that your cabinets are lovely and leave it to the buyer to decide what they want.

That is the declutter (take the practical and half of the decorative things off the counters / add fresh flowers) advice you heard before. The range of people who will love your house because of the kitchen as it is would astound you. This is clearly high quality and you should not think about changing anything to sell your home. Please do not touch your cabinets or the floor! Leave those both for a buyer to update to their colors, if they choose to. I, personally, hate white cabinets. Much prefer the look of wood grain. I agree with the others to add a runner to break up all the wood if you feel the need to do anything besides the decluttering and depersonalization.

I would leave it like it is. It looks wonderful the way it is and if the new owners want to paint them they have that option. People won't buy your house because they aren't painted white!

People will notice that it is clean and empty of unnecessary clutter. They won't always know just why they like it but house show much better when they are clean and not full of stuff! They don't want to see your stuff, you want them to see their stuff in the house. So best to take out all unnecessary stuff including pictures!!

I would do a deep cleaning and declutter, put down a beautiful runner, add one accessory to go with the runner and list it. The homes in my neighborhood are selling in hours, no matter how attractive they are.

I wouldn't do a thing. You have a nice, clean kitchen with high quality cabinets and finishes. Just de-clutter to make the counter space look bigger and let it ride!

I would put carpet runners down to bring in some color.

The horizontal and vertical planes are basically the same color making the space look like a sea of nothing. Refinish the floors to a darker tone to make the cabinetry pop. Refinishing floors is far less expensive than glazing cabinetry. Some oriental rug runners would be a nice idea to provide an upscale look.

I agree with those who recommend not doing anything permanent. The suggestion of small rugs is good.

I suggest putting new brushed nickle knobs on the cabinets, a colorful runner, declutter and have professionally cleaned before putting on the market. You have a beautiful kitchen, but these small updates will brighten it up and make it more current for prospective buyers.

distressed cabinets are incredibly expensive painting them will not look good because they are distressed. take care of the floor by re-staining them or add rugs for contrast

Leave the cabinets as is! If I was purchasing your home and knew you had painted the cabinets, I would be very sad indeed. Buy two matching runner rugs and de-clutter. Simmer a pot of water with 2 tsp of pure vanilla extract on open house day.

What a savvy bunch you all are! After renovating several kitchens and seeing enough showrooms and open houses for a lifetime, my suggestion is to leave your cabinets alone. They're lovely quality and you don't know what your prospective buyer wants. De-clutter counters, add those fresh flowers and runner, and follow fragrance directives of previous comments. The vanilla thing (even just in the toaster oven) worked for me, but bread baking is the clincher!

As noted by an earlier poster, the floor color contrasts with that of the cabinets. If I were to change anything that would be it. Great kitchen otherwise. Since you are selling it would not be worth the investment to revamp the kitchen. No matter what you do to it it is typically the first thing a new owner will change. Invest your money in having a professional staging designer come in. Having the right blend of adornments and pleasing colors will sell the house. Let the new owner paint or replace if they wish

I agree with everyone who said NOOOOOO! don't paint those cabinets. Having them done properly will be more expensive than you can imagine and they are beautiful as they are. White kitchens are classic but they don't belong in every architectural style. (By the way, I'm hoping that when people are suggesting white, they really mean cream which is what your exisiting light-coloured cabinetry seems to be. If you are determined to paint your cabinets, match them to what is already there.

I also agree with everyone who suggested adding a runner. It would not only add colour, it would diminish the amount of exposed wood.

You haven't shown us what's going on in the rest of the house, but the one thing I would change is the wall colour. That aqua blue is a nice compliment to the wood, but it seems to come out of nowhere in your kitchen. The back splash tile would be the cue for wall colour. If this aqua (at least that's what it reads on my monitor) wall colour carries over into adjoining rooms, consider using aqua as an accent colour in the kitchen for flow. As in, make sure the suggested floor runner has some of this colour in it.

Fully agree to not paint your cabinets....we have customers everyday paying high dollar to get the rustic look. I also agree the flooring would be the way to go if you want to add a little pop to the space. Go with a darker floor finish to make the rustic details of the kitchen stand out.

If I was to make a change, I'd change the countertops to a granite that would be a bit darker and include the golds of the cabinets and include darker flecks to tie in the knobs. Add some colourful runners and de clutter and I think the kitchen would be really cozy and appealing. I wouldn't paint the cabinets or change the flooring. Just bring in a bit of contrast with the countertops. I like your cabinets, they look really well made. I've seen some granite on this site that could work, but I've never seen in in real life. Leave the cabinets and floors. Paint the wall a warm gray pulling the tones out of the ceiling beams. That will neutralize some of the 'yellowish' tone. I agree with floor runners and declutter... Your kitchen is beautiful!

Yup, the floor is fighting with the cabinets because they are so close to each other yet a bit off. Leave cabinets alone, re-finish the floor darker to contrast/complement beautiful cabinets.
