Pruning Help Please

I am going to try posting pictures here of a couple of my purchases. I don't know how well I'll do at that. Both are going to be repotted into bigger pots because both are quite young and need more growth. I bought an Azalea "Rosebud" and would like to give it a triangle top.

I was thinking of cutting the branches on the bottom up to the fork in the trunk (including the one sticking out towards me) and then just letting it grow a bit before I do anymore. Does that sound ok? That would sort of leave a ballish look at the top for now. Or should I leave those and prune nothing? Or do tip pruning? Any and all information would be helpful.

The next is the Pieris "Little Heath".

I was hoping to eventually have a sort of wide spread "dome" look to this one. Should I just let it grow? Again, any and all help is much appreciated. My husband is the pruner and I always think he over prunes the trees in the yard but it always looks good. I don't mind messing up, I know I will, these weren't expensive and can just be put in the yard later, but I'd like a bit of education before I start chopping. Thank you in advance!
