Attached concert planter boxes

I have 4 concert planter boxes at ground level that are level with the basement. I've never planted Anything in a pot that i intended for a permanent home. 2 are facing north and the other 2 facing south. I'm looking for anything really that is as close as possible to maintenance free as they come as the rest of my garden is very hands on. I'm open to herbs as well, anything thats perennial for zone 7, May get away with zone 8 according to the USDA website, wa state. I'm not concerned about size but something full would be lovely. Also my home is being painted a rich baked clay color with cream and black highlights and as weird as the request may sound id really love whatever goes in there not to clash with my color schemes.

But im completely lost, i have no idea how to even care for potted plants long term, soil wise, feeding them. Mulching? Suggestions on plants would be wonderful. I need to quickly get the seeds and get them going if i dont already have them.

All suggestions and help welcomed :) Thank you!
