Need Range Hood Help

last modified: 11 years ago

We are getting a 30" gas slide in range and are looking for a wall mount hood. We would like something rustic, but need to stay under $2000 with everything included(hood and vent).

My husband likes one from the range hood store online. It's a faux copper/bronze darker color. I looked into it and it is actually tin? I think that is painted on inside and outside and heated, if I remember correctly what they said. They said to just use water to clean it or Sheila shine. I was told Windex and other things can leave streaks. Sounds like I was asking about a SS refrigerator! I'm afraid the paint could chip or scratch from cleaning anything that may need to be scrubbed off. The warranty does not include the finish, only parts, of course, which really makes me think something could happen to the finish.

Anyone have a faux copper/bronze wall hood? If so, how has it held up? Or does anyone have any suggestions of a rustic hood that is easy to clean, will stay looking good and is under $2000(preferably under $1500) for everything including the vent? I'd consider SS if it was a really different shape(rustic, Tuscan look), but would prefer something other than SS, if possible.

Oh, I know my husband doesn't want one made of wood, but would consider any other material.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks! Kathy
