Yep! I tried beans in pots for the first time last year and was surprised at how well it worked. The yields were not fantastic, but were good enough to provide a side to a meal every now and then. I used 10" and 14" deep pots. Worked for pole limas, too. I think other people on this board have a lot more experience with container-growing beans, so hopefully they'll chip in and I can eavesdrop and learn how to do it better. :)

Pole beans do OK in pots, but not great. I grow at least one variety each year in pots, to get dry seed. The yield is roughly 1/2 of what I would get if planted in the garden, but for my purposes, that is enough. I use large 18" pots, with 3 vines per pot; if I were picking those beans as snaps, I would probably get 3-4 meals.
