My builder uses Houzz Pro to plan the timeline and give detailed estimates and daily updates with photos of progress, and provide invoices at pre-agreed key points in the build. This made the whole experience much more efficient and stress-free.
There are a ton of programs out there that do a wide variety of things at various price points. We use Graphisoft's Archicad in my office. It is a full BIM (Building Information Modeling) program, but it expensive for the full package. You can lease it if you only need it for a limited time as a cheaper option. There is also Chief Architect for about half of that, and then all the Autodesk and Revit products. Sketchup makes a great program too, and we use it from time to time. There are also some tablet cad apps too that might get you what you need. Good luck!
