Where do you store your pan lids?

Since I got rid of the electric range with bottom drawer (that's where I have stored my lids for 30 years), I have no place to put them. I have quite a few lids of varying sizes - probably at least a dozen. Please post pictures if you can. Thanks!

On the pan. When I take out the pan and if I don't need the lid, I slip off the lid and it's a placeholder on the shelf till the pan goes back.

Same as the other two. I've always stored my lids on my pans, if it isn't needed then I leave it in the drawer when I get the pan out.

Storing on the pan won't work for me because my drawers aren't deep enough (I could do ONE pan this way, but couldn't stack them). I have 8 pans that go in one drawer and then skillets and wok in the other drawer. I think they are only about 12" deep each (and 30" wide). Any other ideas/suggestions?

I store the lids on my pans, but upside down so i can still stack if necessary.

I store the lids in the drawer with the pans, but not on the pan. I stack the pans 2 to 3 high this way.

Can you rearrange your drawers? I have 6 pans with lids in one drawer with skillets underneath/stacked between and the other drawer has my woks, the other 2 pots and a large roaster.

I'm doing dishes now but I will try to take a pic later when the drawer is full to show you. My drawers are 9 inches deep.

Mine are in a shallow drawer in the island, directly across from the range.

Gennifer, do your lids have tall handles? How do you fit them all in a drawer? I can fit 5-6 in a shallow drawer, but that's it. I can't really see using 3 shallow drawers just to fit all my lids. Some of these lids are 9-12" too, not just small ones for pans. Thanks!

Mine also go on the pan, upside down for stacking.

I have pot drawers but found that it was a mess in there with the lids. I got a Rev-a-shelf unit for under my cooktop. So now I have pans and lids stored vertically in that. Another way to do it would be to section off a few inches of your drawer so that lids could all go vertically in that small section.

Debbi, the height of my lids is about 3.5" with the handle, and my largest lid is 12.5". The drawer is 30" wide, runs the full depth of the island, and is accessible from both sides.

I actually don't have that many lids (7) because the bulk of them do double or triple duty. The lid that fits on the medium skillet will also fit the small stockpot and large saucepan, for example.

I have enough clearance to stagger and stack them in there if I need to, which I don't. I also store my silpats and a couple of cutting boards in the same drawer.

Mine also on the pan, upside down for stacking. I've trying to think of something better designing this kitchen. What about a rack to store them vertical?http://www.bhg.com/kitchen/storage/organization/ways-to-store-cooking-equipment/#page=11

Debbi, some posts (with pictures) on lid storage below which may be of help to you. Check out the pictures where the are stored on the bar behind the cabinet door.

I store many of the big lids on a dish rack inside a deep drawer.

I have a rack on the inside of a cupboard door where they all stack one below the other. It holds a variety of sizes and is a fairly simple vinyl covered wire rack.

On the other side of this cupboard is one of those pull out rails and most of my pots and pans are all hanging from that. It is my pot cupboard!

I store mine in the middle on my Lazy Susan on a Lid Holder. Pans are stacked into each other.

happyallison...for me, storing with lids on them is the best possible situation. I don't want to have to go to another cabinet or drawer to find the lid that goes with that pot/pan.

Yes, I hear you on that one.

I have two of these from my old kitchen to give anyone who wants to pick them up in North Baltimore. They fit inside a standard base cabinet on the side walls. They're too bulky to mail but you can pm me if you are local and want them.

In my current kitchen, I planned a 13.5 inch high, base drawer in a 24 inch wide cabinet next to my cooktop that has an adjustable divider. This leaves a narrow 3-4 inch slot that holds lids on their sides. The larger area is used for the pots.

Pots/pans in one deep 36" drawer, lids (in an organizer that stands them diagonally) and mixing bowls and small baking dishes in another.

Sorry it took so long but here is a pic of my main pots and pans drawer.

There are 8 pots and pans in here, 6 with lids. The interior use able dimensions of this drawer are 28" wide and 9" deep.

    Hope it helps.

I store pots/pans, colanders, steamers, etc in a 36X11X17 drawer. Lids are in a 24" drawer right next to it. If I stored the pans with the lids on, I'd need another large drawer to hold them all. This is the most efficient way for me. I have mostly All-Clad (about a dozen different pieces) and a few Presto pans I got for a wedding present in 1965. So I have many different sizes.

Thank you Tx. My drawer is so crammed compared to yours.

I store my lids in an organizer similar to Jancy's picture. They fall over, get caught in each other and make a lot of noise trying to get them out. I can't stand it! However, I also do not have the room and depth to store them on top of each pot/pan. I nest the posts and pans in each other, too, with the same cacophony pulling them out. I hope to get a 30" shallow top drawer in a cabinet under my induction cooktop (if I ever get cabinets ordered!). I would love the be able to store them one layer deep in the drawer. Ideally each lid would go on top (upside down) of its pot, but that would take far too many drawers of pots and pans.

I have 4 large lower drawers, 2 on each side of my stove. I have been storing the lids in the bottom drawer, underneath the drawer that holds the skillets. The saucepans and stockpots are on the other side. Mine look kind of like lsckaisgir's above. A while ago I saw some staggered diagonal spacers built into a drawer for lids that I thought might work better, but I have not been able to find the picture again. They went all the way across the drawer and there were I think 3 of them front to back. Kind of like a letter organizer on it's side. The lids sort of overlapped each other.

Debra- yours is definitely more crowded than mine. I think I counted 19 pots and pans in your drawers and in the one I showed, I've only got 8. The other drawer has 2 large woks and 2 other sauce pans. I had more but found I never used them so I got rid of them.

I can see though that what works in my kitchen wouldn't work in yours. Wish I could be of more help! Do you have any unused drawers nearby? Or maybe some pans you don't use frequently that could be relocated to another area so that you can keep your daily pots, pans and lids in those drawers?
