what is missing? Need curtain, mantel decor wall decor ideas. What color or style curtains would work best ? I like traditional/tuscan style and colors.

Your large sofa with matching love seat and huge entertainment unit are not transitional style.
Are you planning to change them? I would decide on those first before addressing other issues.

I love your wall color. So rich.

I would recommend simple panels, hung right below your ceiling trim and extending to the floor. I would try the furniture arrangement suggested above, then select art you like that more fully fills the spaces. Right now what you have is just too small. I would really like to see a lovely painting over the mantle instead of the clock.

I am looking into new tv stand I don't believe I can switch it to the other side no cable over there. SO was looking for a smaller tv stand. What color curtains should I try to ad more color? would a vase and some flowers do well on the mantel/ Should I move the curio out of this room?

any suggestions where to get curtains from?

West Elm, Bed Bath and Beyond, IKEA, JCPenney, lots of places for curtains. Google curtain panels, then follow the links and start getting a feel for what you like. Be warned, that can just SUCK the time! I spent all of Wednesday afternoon doing that exact thing.

If you like the TV on that side of the room, then just get a smaller console. But it is possible to move cable connections.

Don't see much traditional or Tuscan here. Get a credenza 25% wider than the TV and place it left of the FP. You could buy a buffet or sideboard second hand and do a paint treatment similar to this one. Pay to move the cable - you can't arrange a TV room if the TV is in the wrong place. Put the curio between the windows. I don't mind your swag curtains as they soften without being too much, but you need to get some with color and/or pattern. If you can't replace your man cave style sofas, at least replace the loveseat with a pair of chairs.

It's an easy fix to change your cable, just call your cable provider and they will change it for you, for a minimal fee.

    Hey Beth,

For the center, I would suggest to have a Noguchi Coffee Table. IFN Modern sells affordable and high quality replicas of Noguchi coffee table.

any opinions on these curtains? or should I leave what I have

Its cheap to move the cable hook up. But what is the wall behind the current tv cabinet? Any pix of that side of the room might be helpful.

    it's a sitting room ...

Ok, not much possibility on that side! I would move the TV to the left of he fireplace on a pretty console as suggested. Or even move the big unit if it fits, but it's kind of overwhelming. Could you repurpose the cabinet into another room as a bookcase, bar, linen storage? It's really nice but sooo big. Then I would try pulling your couch away from the wall closer to the fireplace and flip the love seat to the right of the couch, back toward the sitting room.

I hate to say it but you have to part with that television in stand. The room is large and airy and you do have nice things. That large bulky piece of furniture is holding back the entire arrangement of the room and blocking a window. I would invest in that project first and figure out what the best wall for the TV will be once it is out of that unit!

Nice large room. Any possibility of mounting TV over the fireplace and placing your two sofa's facing one another in front of the fireplace, with coffee table/light on far end? Yes, soft gold curtains without valance above and to side of windows go nicely with the room green/blue color. Consider adding trim to the wall between the LV and sitting room, similar to your ceiling trim (lumbar yards can fix you right up with correct size if you bring photo and size template). Then to merge rooms, make or pick up pillows pulling select colors from the sitting room that go with the living room.

You may want to consider mounting your television over your fireplace, this will allow you to have two focal points in one location. This will make placement of furniture an easier task. By adding a ArtScreen to conceal the television is an another great option to keep the space formal while entertaining and informal when friends and family get together to enjoy a fire and watch television.

Decoenthusiast, I have GOT to save this link. This one and the one about how to do shutters right are both pretty helpful.
