We would like to take down both of these walls separating the foyer from the living room and the living room from the kitchen. We know that we will need a column of some sort on the corner and are not sure what kind to install. We were considering a pillar on either side also after the walls are down.

We are putting in new darker hardwood through out. We are going to try to do most renovations on our own and would appreciate any help! Thanks for any advice!
