Just had my first cleome seed sprout after about a week or so in the crock pot. Crock pot?!

thought I would share. After several weeks of unsuccessful sprouting
attempts in moist paper towel, I learned they needed temperature flux. I
sacrificed my crock pot for a few weeks until the experiment concludes.Using
Christmas lights, I was better able to control the amount of heat
inside the pot. The entire string provided too much heat, so I tried
fewer and fewer until the temp felt right.

Turn on the heat
during the day, turn it off at dinnertime. Potholders to prevent the
milk jug from touching the bulbs. Threw some paper towel seeds in poly
bags in there too. I've pricked the sprout out and moved it to a cell and under lights.

I have another setup with a set of Christmas lights underneath a lasagna tray, the seeds in paper towels and poly bags on top of that. This is my first year trying to grow seeds. I've loved reading the stories of all the unconventional methods so I've thrown in mine!
