Yes!!!!!! Multiple times a day and they won`t be here `til mid May! I see they have just been spotted in Oklahoma so lucky you - they should be on your doorstep soon and what little hummer wouldn`t want to stop and sample your offerings?!

Been watching and put two feeders out saturday.It was windy and cool but warmed nicely sunday.I usualy see males this time of year,been so busy in the garden i might have missed them today,im sure i will see them this comming week,

Today I bought an agastche and a dwarf butterfly bush. I should probably just fill the feeder at this point. :)

Makes sense to me to buy a few plants in bloom and enjoy that extra time. Blooms are really rare and precious this time of year, worth every cent.

Today I have two major reports due but all I really want is to stay home and look out the windows in hopes of spotting a hummer.

I looked at the maps and they should be here...but of course, I don't have prime plants to attract them in flower yet. I've only lived here since November, and while I've planted and moved a lot from my father's house, there's only so much I can afford to do. I'll move the lantana and maybe the jasmine out next week, after the 34F that we have in the forecast for Saturday.

I noticed that as well! The dates are missing and now there's a 'migration front' along with a 'ferrous wheel'. Either someone has hacked the map or maybe the owner likes iron jokes. :)

Houston here. I put my feeder up yesterday and got my first hummingbird today. I couldn't get a good look so I can't even describe him.her. Nice to have them back.

Robert, I wonder if the blooming miltonia orchid and tolumnia that I received today count as hummingbird plants, if the hummingbirds can see them through the window at least (yes, I'm a tease). Anything yet ?

We've had two here for a couple of weeks. First time I ever saw two at the feeder at same time. Must have Ma and Pa birds. Our neighbor left 4 collard plants in the ground and they are flowering. We saw a hummingbird visit all of them. I always think they only like red flowers.

I got my first one today, and possibly a second one. As mentioned earlier, the normal range for my first is Apr 1-10, so today is close to average. I put up 2 more feeders, they'll start coming very quickly now. I'll have a dozen or so within a week.

I need to put mine out soon. I was planning to do it after all this rain this week.

Well I've put up my cheater feeder and continue to buy plants and even though people have spotted them all around me I still haven't seen any. Just a matter of time I suppose. :)

Today I bought some Lantana 'Bandito Orange Sunrise' and some red zinnias and the other day I found a flat of Salvia coccinea 'Lady in Red' and my Calliandra californica is blooming.

I umm bought a new reddish purple "perennial" salvia in blooms. I would think it would be liked by hummers...so there, my concession. Actually I have a lot of Lady In Red I transplanted from indoors, which should be coming into bloom in about 2 weeks.

The red honeysuckle (Lonicera sempervirens 'Major Wheeler') is in full bloom. Surely some will be tempted for a drink. :)

Well Robert, I saw one fly by the window today (totally by accident, I was doing dishes). I don't know if my one lone purple salvia attracted him or he was doing the purple weeds that I call the lawn.

Congrats! I keep watching daily but still haven't seen any. I've got so many things in bloom right now it's ridiculous. Surely I'll accidently see one soon. :)

Last summer the Major Wheeler was a site of constant activity in my yard. They ate there, fussed each other there and hid there inside the thicket. It is so gorgeous and big and red that I think of it as a neon sign saying "breakfast served here all day. Yours looks fabulous, Robert. Mine is in bud, ready to break out any day.

I have one feeder up, but none sighted yet.

We've been enjoying the red honeysuckle and are dumbfounded that we haven't spotted any hummers yet. We've got three plants in full bloom. Sigh. I even left the dead ends of the vines so the hummers could rest on them while they feed.

Robert, I would just love to see your yard. It looks just fabulous, at least the glimpses you've given us. Don't fret because you haven't seen them yet. You'll have more this year than last, I'll bet. That's what I'm telling myself :)

Today I moved some hollies around and we moved a trellis to the top of our 8 ft fence. We had it in the middle but didn't realize the honeysuckle would want to grow straight to the top!

That's beautiful, Robert. I love the way you've crossed and trimmed the vine. I've never seen that before. Very elegant. They look terrific against your grey fence, really perfect there.

Mine are 4 years old this spring, They are extremely vigorous, growing fast and strong and blooming all summer, getting much bigger than the catalogues said they would.

They are stunning in May, just a wall of red, and bloom mostly all summer from May to frost. After seeing hummers darting in and out of them late last summer I wouldn't give them up for anything else. Even the thicket behind the blooms has to be a wonderful place for bird's nests or sheltering.

Saw one in Gettysburg, PA yesterday but haven't seen another one since then.
