Light fixture size appropriate for oven kitchen table

I have a 48" round table in my kitchen. I ordered a chandelier to hang over it. The electrician hung the fixture yesterday. It is 36" wide and is round. It looks way too big. What is the maximum width for a fixture that would be appropriate for that size table?
