How old is your plant? They tend to be more upright, not particularly dense when young and take on a more vase shaped form with cascading branch ends when older. Are you growing it as best you can, prefers moist, acid soil in light shade (some direct sun). They are sensitive to drought and don't respond well to periods of dryness.

I've had it 2 years and I think it was a YO plant when I got it. I think plant is healthy, just wondering what I could do to fill it.

You can lightly shear it when the blossoms fade.

I prefer the wispy look, myself.

Many azaleas send up adventitious shoots after getting fully settled in, and that would fill it in with different layers and heights. However, I do agree light shearing will help fill in the top. Please don't create pom poms though.

cant even imagine what an azalea pom pom would look like. Anyway, I will do a light pruning after blooming and see where it goes. thanks all for your input
