This year I am comparing Algarve, Helda and Smeraldo (left to right). These beans are very similar. They look and taste similar - at least I can't tell the difference. Helda is slightly longer, while Smeraldo is slightly wider. The main difference, at least in my garden, it seems Helda has less foliage and just as many beans. That might be an advantage where disease is a problem. And, the beans are easier to pick - no hunting necessary. Another difference was Smeraldo had very poor germination under the same cool conditions, 65 to 72 degrees. I plan to stick with Helda in the future. Thank you Luther for the seeds.
