Front yard nightmare

I have a very small front yard. Any grass that you see is really weeds, can't get it to grow. I am looking for ANY suggestion on what to do with this space. I was leaning towards bringing out a stone wall in a kidney shape around the mailbox and using shrubs and mulch. Then extending the stone path sloping down between house. I am NOT a Gardner but can maintain an area. I live in Atlanta zone 7
