Kitchen before and after

Small, awkward configuration before. For perspective, the microwave was right in the middle of the front wall, where the sink is in the after photo. There was a small, load bearing wall that had to be moved. That was the biggest part of the project. The bay window was funky and was never a usable space.

We didn't add any square footage. By removing the load bearing wall, we were able to take advantage of the entire span across the front of the house. I asked for the biggest window that would work. It's 11' long. The after is the best investment we ever made!! You can easily have 5 people working in the kitchen.

The entry was was enlarged from a cramped ugly entry way.

My brother built a door with beveled glass and a working sidelight. Beautiful, mahogany door, hand made and shipped from Kauai.

Very well done. Great transformation. I have to say that angled island was a good reason for change.

Omg. Love your new kitchen. It looks like you added square feet and you didn't . What a dramatic transformation. The big window is great. Good idea.

@Beth the 11' window was ~$3k (Marvin) - 8' fixed with two 2 1/2' casements on either side. The window has "top down/bottom up" shades within the frame (so no window dressing is required)

. Here's a before and after from the outside.
