Wow...this is hard. You definitely want to stay away from anything with an orange-y feel. My initial thoughts are you would need to go with something in the "earthy" family. Which greige were you thinking? (I'm not a designer, but cannot wait to see their options for this one).

I'd be inclined to say stay away from any variation of gray. It will only tend to bring out the blue in your cabinets.

Going white would be a very clean look by tying in with your backsplash or if you're up for a color try a pale sage green. Always test paint on actual walls.

One thing I notice is the island's countertop is light gray which makes the cabs look bluer.

I would stay away from the greige paints out there. Colors with too much warm undertones in them will only make your cabinets go more blue by contrast. You might be best to go with a nice cool gray, like Sherwin Williams Gray Screen or Knitting Needles maybe. And a nice or off white backsplash. Best of luck!!

I would paint the walls a lighter version of the cabinet color. Contrasting paint colors will draw more attention to the color. I think it's beautiful but it does read blue. Can you change your vision and embrace the blue?

I don't see anyway around not painting those cabinets. They have to be repainted even if for cost purposes you do them in stages. You could start with the island, and then do the top row of the cabinets and pantry, and lastly the bottom row. If you know you're ultimately going to repaint the cabinets, then I wouldn't keep adding to the problem by painting the walls yet another color you don't necessarily like just to match cabinets that you're going to be changing anyway. You don't want to try and fix one problem by simply adding another one. I would figure out what color scheme you're ultimately trying to get to, and then take steps one by one until you can get there. The floors look really pretty and you have stainless appliances. So I would just decide on what you ultimately want and start taking steps in that direction.

I think you'd be well served to paint the island cabinets white...constrast nicely with gray countertop and balance visual attention.

It seems you were going for a much more understated look, but it "ain't happenin'" with all that blue! I think I would balance the blue with soft lime green walls and crisp white woodwork, maybe add brighter or bigger silver knobs/pulls........ Get a little "spring vibe" going instead of all blue. Add a few coral or orange accents and this will be a happy kitchen, grounded by the rich floor color!

I love the blue cabinets! Use a crisp white backsplash - get that done first. Then work the paint!

and then live with it for a while. If you still need to tone down the blue, have a great painter come in and just paint the island white, distress it for contrast!

And then, yes, I would probably try a really light gray for the walls, something barely gray to offset any white molding you have in the room.

I'm not usually a fan of grey walls, but you need something cool to work with the cabinets; if you just crop the walls out of the picture you'll see the cabinet color looks much nicer. The current wall color is really emphasizing the blue, which is the opposite of what you want.

I think the blue-gray cabinets are beautiful and look great with the dark floor. It's the wall color that's not right. Stick with white, install a stainless range hood, add a few tasteful accessories and it will be gorgeous!

i think the idea of a dark color for the island would also be fabulous!

Forget about the walls and paint out the uppers and the island with white to make it pop. Run your backsplash material up the side of the oven cabinet (you may have to adjust the cabinet to make this happen) and paint only the 2 upper doors and crown moulding in white to keep from creating a white behemoth. I would also dress up the toe kick, even white would work to get separation from the floor, right now it just blends in. Good luck and have fun!

I'm with painting the cabinets at the island white. I think it will totally transform the room. Before you start painting, I would add end cabinet panels to the island to really make it feel rich. what is your plan for the hood? you could do a white or stainless vent-a-hood that has some interest to it and will drive your eye from the blue. they probably feel way too blue because of the yellow walls.

The blue cupboards are lovely and once you add all of your finishing touches, you may be suprised. You have a unique kitchen and I would embrace its stye. I would change the hardware to cupped handles, which by being a big larger will break up the blue. Suggest painting the walls white (as well as the frame around the window above the fridge). Once you add white stools at island and some pendants, the room will feel crisp and modern. Good luck.

DON'T PANIC. I design custom cabinets and believe me, getting grey that is just too blue is so easy to do. It is also easy to fix. This just happened to me on a job with shaker cabinets and this is the least expensive and fastest way to drag those cabinets back to greige. I would hire a cabinet finisher to do this unless you are really handy. Just apply a sheer brown stain over the blue, let it sit, then gently rub off. It will dramatically change the color and enhance the detailing on the cabinets. Good luck!

I'm shocked you are calling the color a mistake since I think it is so charming! I would, however, paint the island white and put in a white backsplash. (I should mention I'm a sucker for a blue and white palette).
So nice to see a kitchen that isn't a "cookie cutter." This has the potential to be a real stunner. As far as wall color, I'd go with a super pale grey like Sherwin Williams Light French Gray #55 at 50% tint or a soft white that matched the island.

I agree with all the folks who are saying these cabs will look LOVELY a once you paint the walls. Remember basic color theory: to enhance a color, accent it with a color opposite from it in the color wheel. To down play it, pair it with something close to it on the wheel.

Thus, paint the walls a very light white/grey and you should be happy. The yellow is making you see more blue than there is. You might also try buying cooler/daylight lights (LED might be good). But I could be wrong about the lights.

Did you paint the cupboards? Are they new? Did you have them painted? I absolutely love the combination of blue & white in the kitchen. Posters are mentioning your yellow walls. My PC shows them as being a shade of white so I don't always get true colors presented to me. Please give me some answers to my questions.

What do you plan to do for the range hood? Backsplash? All of these answers will affect what you are seeing as a 'problem'.

I really like your blue cabinets. I'd go for crisp white walls and backsplash.

The cabinets are nice. I think what is making you feel unhappy is the wall color. It clashes. I would paint your walls white dove and I think this will put a smile on your face!

Your cabinets are very nice and the color is appealing. They are looking more blue because your current wall color has yellow undertones. Paint the walls a neutral white and do a beautiful stainless backsplash. With your dark floors, your kitchen will look stunning and very dramatic!
