They like a PH of 6 to 6.5 but can take low PH too, as low as 5.0. So you need to knock it down some. Sulfur takes 6 months to work but is the best way IMHO. Adding peat moss would lower it quicker. Work it into the soil. You can fertilize with cottonseed meal, Holly-Tone or ammonium sulfate to lower the PH quickly while waiting for the sulfur to work.

Plus one on all of Drew's comments. The "acid special" type fertilizers are essentially the same thing as Hollytone, etc. Anything listed as being beneficial to acid-loving plants is your short-term answer. The soil sulfur will do the rest. Be advised however of a tendency of soil to always seem to go back to what it was, as soon as you're not looking, lol! It is called buffering capacity and simply means you will likely have to do periodic adjustments. By the way, it's pH, not PH.

Thanks for all of the replies! If I do both peat moss and sulfur, would the Hollytone be unnecessary, or should I use all three? I was thinking of adding the peat and sulfur to my garden today, and then retesting the soil next month before I plant. If the test says that the soil has become acidic enough, should I forego using the Hollytone? Thanks!

You need to fertilize at some point, so as suggested some acidic fertilizer is going to be needed. I would fertilize when planting this first year. Then 6 weeks later and one more time in August. The 2nd year fertilize everbearing after fruiting in the spring. Fertilize June bearing after renovation.
