I take it you don't like the blinds? You could replace them with fabric roman shades that compliment your bedding. Make sure you get blackout lining if you need light control.

Levolor has vertical blinds with fabric, they're called Luminaires, the vertical slats are encased in sheer fabric. A bit pricy, but probably less than custom curtains for that window.

The current blinds are old and have to be replaced no matter what. I was hoping for fabric and not blinds of any kind to soften up the room. I'm trying to balance not taking away from the view and the woodwork, but still have draperies. I can't figure out how to do that.

Roman shades would be pretty, but I would want something in addition. Would you do roman shades in white and some decorative drapes in the fabric of the bedding? Maybe some that don't actually close?

Keep the window treatments simple. You have enough pattern in your bedspread. Also, I don't know about you, but I find that I need to replace my bedding every few years due to wear and tear. Find a solid color to soften the windows that will not distract from the beautiful view outdoors. The tan or light blue would be pretty. The colors in the picture below remind me of the colors in your room. Hope this helps.

I'm a terrible photographer. The bedspread looks very bold in this photo, but the room is actually large and the bedspread isn't nearly that bright in person. It's not quite as light as in the photo above, but not bold. I don't like the look of blinds. Roman shades are pretty, but you can't open them up very wide to keep the view. We have no neighbors in the back, so I could easily leave the top windows open as long as I have the ability to close the lower ones for privacy and some sun control -we live in Houston. If only there was magical glass that would provide privacy at the touch of a button!! All the other non-bedroom windows in the house we've pretty much taken down all the window treatments and they look fabulous.

Actually Natalie, there is glass like that. I don't know what it called, but many years ago, I learned of a restaurant in NYC that had a glass rest room in the middle of the dining room. When a switch was flipped, the glass became opaque, lol!

I have large windows in my bedroom that look out onto our pool. I have the lumineer blinds from hunter Douglas and red curtains. Every morning I lift the blinds to about 2/3 open and open the drapes. It's beautiful I think. I need the light blocked entirely to sleep. Unless you can sleep with light coming through, you might consider both.

Karen, this is kind of what I was thinking except my walls would be blue, and my ceiling a lighter blue with extensive white crown molding. The bedspread is actually about as bold as this folded one but has several different blues in it. The blue paint I'm using compliments the blue in our pool really well but doesn't compete with it. I really like the tufted headboard in your picture above, though. What would anyone put above the king sized bed if I had a white tufted headboard? I've looked for years for something I really liked. I actually found something the other day, but it was $8000, of course!! What does anyone else think? I appreciate everyone's input!!

Hey There: As you have the problem with your old wood blinds right now (they are super heavy and block at least 6 to 7 inches of the top view), you can consider more minimalistic blinds or roller shades. This being your master bedroom you require a few things. Privacy is one, the other would be blackout for those days you want to sleep in. I suggest you look at a day/night cellular shade. The night or bottom fabric will be the blackout and the top or day portion would be a sheer. You can also leave this area open and thus making the shade top down/bottom up. The other advantage to the cellular is that it has the smallest sack so when you want it up you will not have any obstacles between you and the
