what is on the walls on each side of the fireplace? Are the walls empty?Can you take a picture that would include the wall space on each side of the fireplace?

I would suggest painting the two walls flanking the fireplace in a rusty tone! its will look warm and inviting. I would suggest placing matching consoles or bookshelves on either side so those walls dont end up looking so bare!

The walls are a clean slate. There's a small vent, up high, on the wall, to the left, but that's it.

I would recommend to paint all three areas and add some art on each side on the recessed walls, maybe 2 bigger pieces of art on top of each other on each side. I like the idea of an accent wall, but I don't like it chopped. If you would do just the walls to the sides of the fireplace, I think it would looked chopped and made no sense. Do the entire wall (the fireplace wall already has the nice stone on it and it will stand out) and then add some art on a vertical on each side. Good luck!

Hi batoutahell, I have done some shots for you so you can see the effects. I think I would be inclined to do the side walls, and then do the wall above the tv and other walls in the room a gray to match the fireplace stone. See what you think.

Just the sides

You're welcome. There's no right or wrong really. It's what do you want to visually do. If you plaint the gray above the fireplace then you make the fireplace taller, if you paint it the rusty colour it looks shorter
and a bit warmer. These will help you decide though.

Good luck. I agree that art and some low chests or small tables with ottomans below would really enhance the space.

love it......I am looking for the same style fireplace. Can you tell me where you bought it and $$$.....the ones I've seen are in excess of $4,000.....didnt really want to spend that much :(

The Fireplace shop, on Eglington, in Toronto. The fireplace box itself will run about $3500., but the vents, labour, remote, stone, etc etc., will take you well about your $4,000. I think it would depend on how much you were able to do yourself. In my case, the linear replaced an older model, so the entire wall had to be rebuilt, and all was outsourced.

hello zuzan. the finished result looks great! what is the color you used? I too am looking to paint a accent wall and I think this color would be perfect.

I would paint the white vent on the wall adjacent to the fireplace to match the new russet color
