The bed line looks permanent. Too bad. I would redo it completely as the line/bed is not designed for landscaping that will enhance your home. The rocks must be be in a groundcover bed where they are arranged in a random cluster. It will still be tough because they are all roughly same size and shape, which is not exactly natural looking. The medallion bed near the street should be enlarged (no real impact in its present size) and shaped to reflect nearby influences (street corner) ... so a kidney-ish shape coordinating with the corner might be better. Then, plant it with a single, uniform groundcover and edge it with the bricks in a flush laid sailor course ... not end to end.

Heuchera and fibrous begonias for the bed. It is too small for anything else. Definitely too small for the rocks. Find them a home elsewhere.

Are those plastic artificial rocks? They appear that way to me, which could explain why they're so similar in shape and size. I agree about moving those somewhere less prominent away from the front of the home and ideally breaking them up into multiple locations under trees or something so they aren't polka-dotting the same spot.

The rocks are just sitting there as I just got them. They can be moved anywhere. I just wanted to show what I have and would like something mixed in with the rocks.

Sorry I didn't see yours until now. I love the idea of the succulents but will they grow in the shade?

The rocks aren't permanent. I just pulled the plants out that were there and put them there for now.

I like succulents because they can have interesting forms, texture and color, and can look good with appropriate rocks. However, I live in W Washington where it is rainy and cool, so not all succulents thrive/survive for me.

You say that the site has morning sun only. It looks like the area in front of the windows has bright shade, as there aren't structures blocking reflected light, and I doubt if you have many cloudy days. So I would think that shade wouldn't be a huge limiting factor. I searched online for "succulents for shade southern california" and got some hits.
