It's hard to tell, you might step back more and take a photo of the whole house...I always think it's better to leave it for awhile to see if it grows on you, but if you still don't like it, my first thought was to paint it one color, either the white or the blue (or is it gray?). I think that'll show texture without the busyiness maybe?

It has rather a thoroughbred farm feel to it...was that what you were going for?

I don't think it is too much. It is different and adds to the character. If you make any changes paint it one color and only have the hardward color accent.

I love the style, but think the two colors might be a bit overwhelming. Having it all white, but keeping the hardware black might calm it down a bit, but still keep the detailing. Or, if you still want two colors, maybe a shade or two darker than the white, so there's not so much contrast. However, I do agree with everyone else and say wait a bit and see what you think. It might not be what you exactly wanted, but you might realize you like it even more :)

Thank you all for the gentle input. My vision came from an all white door with the studs following the curve of the arches and at the bottom and the straps at the top and bottom but they wouldn't fit there due to the weather stripping and white seemed impractical. I will let go of it for a bit and maybe paint it white or remove the straps.

HI -- It does take time to get use to something new . But the two tone colors is too much. Paint the doors all one color that is close to the brick color . But not red. Try "Ranchwood " by Benjamin Moore , and also do the trims and all the other whites . Then a vivid color for the front door.

I think all white or grey would be more complimentary and I would also remove the decorative item and replace your address plaque with a black iron style.

Agree that you should remove the scroll.

I'm with the folks above -- the root of the problem may be in the grey / white color scheme. Give it a month. If you're still dissatisfied with the look, you might consider painting everything but the hardware white & wait another month. If the little black dots still give you too much of a castle feeling, then try painting those white as well.

Agree! All white with the black hardware will look fab...

You are just having some difficulty getting used to the newness and big change it created. It is a brand new door & that must make you very happy. I like the blue & white flowers near it. I agree with removing the blue scroll above the address. Give it some time for you to adjust to the change.

Good ideas Houzzers. I will remove address plate with scroll for certain. Then wait a bit and possibly paint it all white which is what I wanted in the first place. Of course I paid extra for the two tones and my painting it will nix the paint warranty. Lessons I learned: go with my original vision, keep it simple, paint fixes almost everything. My front door is periwinkle bue and the rest of the house is same light gray as garage with white trim, Flowers, light pinks, purples and yellow daffodils (gone now). Thanks again.

Wow, you work fast! Lol. I actually really love the gray in the pic, not so bright but again I think you should step back and take the front door and columns into consideration in one shot. Gray would be your 5th color.

Unlike others, I actually love the black straps. White would be the safe choice! Don't worry, you'll end up with what you'll love!

Grover is rarely wrong. All one color is definitely the way to go...and (IMHO) more than two accent colors make for tired eyes (too hard to focus). You have the brick (main color), then your white trim and the periwinkle blue door. Go with the all-white garage doors...and chalk this one up to "always trust your gut"

Design versus losing warranty.

I have a prejudice against drawing attention to a garage; it's seldom the most interesting feature of a house. I do think the all white or all-gray works better than two-tone. Bright white on double garage doors is just too much, I think. I'd play down the garage and play up your pretty entrance instead.

Here's photo of my house with old gray door. Unfortunately the garage door is the most prominent feature as the trees hid most of the house. I obviously went too far in trying to make the garage door more interesting. Thanks again everyone.

I didn't comment first b/c I thought it was fine. Then groveraxle showed how it could be improved! I still think the straps are fine and add character and detail. But I must admit, both the solid white and the solid grey look better.

Ok after seeing the before pic, I think white would be better. You do see alot of the white trim and columns from the street and the gray garage door might look dingy. If this was my house, I would paint the front door with dark red color pulled from the brick and keep all trims white but keep the black straps. Three colors.

I think all white with black hardware, ties in with other white trim and somehow makes garage less a focal point (less contrast). I like your garage doors, you are trying to make the house more welcoming and it has to be done mainly through the garage doors as they are so prominent.

Still mulling it all over. I also think I will trim the trees a bit to make the entry more visible. Many brains ARE better than one. Especially since I've missed the obvious. Appreciate everyone's viewpoints.

I see what you were going for, but think it's too busy & distracting. It makes your garage "primary" rather than secondary.

I like the grey so that it ties in with the front porch. I agree that trimming the trees so the rest of the house is more visible will help draw attention away from the door. Have you considered replacing the lanterns flanking the garage door with something larger and black? It may help tie in the straps on the garage door, if you want to keep them dark.

I really like the white as shown by Groveraxel, and keeping the black trim. This door is a big improvement and that little change will make it great. I vote that you keep your blue door and flower bed...

I'd like to also suggest moving the house numbers from above the garage and put it under the sconce light on the right of the garage. Also, having the plantings look more natural gives the home an updated/newer look. For instance, I'd remove the shaped boxwood plants (and flower pot in the flower bed) for new plantings. Azalias or gardenias?

Everybody's comments have made me realize that I need to take a more wholistic approach to my front (as I already said, I missed the obvious) like I did inside my home. I am now rethinking the entire thing not just the garage door but the lighting, landscaping, etc. Oh great, another long-term project in my never-ending renovations. Now I will ask for suggestions BEFORE I begin. I enjoy it though and have the time so there you go. Much to be said for being more open-minded to everything in life.
